I was scared. I wasn't sure what to do. We had my cat and all of my things. Well the things I needed or didn't want to live without. I was listening to music when I tripped and fell. I cut open my hand on some broken glass and Nate hissed unnaturally behind me. He set down my cat and luggage. He knelt in front of me and gently grabbed my hand.
"You're so clumsy, it's adorable... and your blood... you have a rare blood type. My kind would kill for this unless the host is otherwise marked as ones property."
"W-what are you talking about?"
"Well, Katty... I'm not human..." He whispered the last part.
"What are you then?"
"What creatures do you know that drink blood?"
"Well... bats and vampires, but... vampires are myths..."
"No... or I wouldn't be here."
"What did you mean by 'marked'?"
"Like branding a slave, but you wouldn't be working in a field... you'd be giving up your blood."
After he said that he removed the glass in my hand and carefully licked away the blood with a hum of pleasure. He looked at me with a look of possession and dominance. I whimpered submissively and looked away. He finished and wrapped my hand with gauze bandaging.
"I don't want anyone else in the area to smell this..."
"You're not the only one?!"
"No... there're others. I live with two of them but they have mates so I won't have to worry much."
"Will I have to worry?"
"No... I won't let them touch you."
When we arrived at his house, I whimpered again and he pulled me against him. His brethren and their mates looked at us with awe.
"Oo, who's the snack, Nate?" The dark haired one said.
"Don't even think about it, Dark."
"But she smells so good..." The one with green hair wined.
"Behave yourselves, especially you, Anti."
"But, Evelien..."
"No. Don't worry about them, Nate."
"Neither one of you will get a treat later if you keep this up."
"Sorry..." Dark - I think - said.
"Don't worry about it. She needs time to get used to this though... right, Katty?"
In response I only opened my cats cage. He mewed and climbed onto the back of the couch, looking at me. I smiled at him. Nate looked at me and let me go sit down, not to far behind. Instead of sitting, Nate stood beside me, like a bodyguard.
"Why are you standing...?"
"You're uncomfortable around us."
"So? That didn't stop you from having your arm around me a minute ago."
He said nothing to that and sat down behind me, wrapping his arms around me carefully. He laid his head on my shoulder and made it clear I wasn't aloud to leave.
