In the end, I simply gave them an excuse that I was in my rebellious teen years. It seemed to have worked though, they didn't care much after that and went back to their usual routine.
I went back to my room, finishing my entry in the black journal. Ninamarie seemed to have diappeared, and as she did she even cleaned my room. A shocker. It was neat, even the newly cut hair was tucked away inside the trash bin. I dunno what was running in that cousin's head of mine but it's a good change.
Anyways, I couldn't contain my smile. I don't care if my aunt forced her to fix it, or if Jhon blackmailed her or she did it in her own accord at least my messy room is at least clean now.
Shutting the notebook close, I smiled in satisfaction. I filled three pages of all my past, happy memories. Three hundred sixty five minus three. I laughed at my calculations, it was still a long way to go.
Changing into my house clothes, I comfortably laid on my bed. The door knocks, rolling my eyes I tell them to come in. It was Ninamarie. Most of the time I'd be stainding up with my full armor on, but by the sadness and hopelessness in her eyes I knew that something was wrong.
"Ninam-" she interrupted me before I could even finish.
She ran to my bed, sitting on the edge, bawling her eyes out. Her mascara was mixing with her tears. This is when I started to worry, even woner really. For all the twenty two years I knew my snotty, bratty, irritating cousin she wasn't a crier. She has a brave face, she has a hard armor to go through and she has a tongue of a viper.
I rolled out of my bed and grabbed her a box of tissues. She grabbed them hastily from my clutch, grabbing three instantly and blowing into them.
"What's wrong?" I asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.
God this feels so weird!
No answer.
She brushed a strand of her blond hair away from her face as I take a seat next to her. She looked into my eyes, her eyes were red, nose stuffy and hands shaking.
"D-do y-you know wh-what true love is?" She finally said after a good attempt through all the sniffing, couching and pausing.
I smiled at her. Of course I did, I had Daniel, the sweetest man that I could ever have. He was too good for me. Nodding was my answer. She gave me a forced smile, blowing her nose once agian, looking down at the ground.
"Now, tell me why you're asking me these questions," I demanded from her, hands helping wipe away the tears.
She pushes herself to look up at me, she forced a thin, almost unidentifiable smile.
"It's Colton," she said, whimpering.
Oh yes, Colton. I remember last year how Ninamarie bragged about her new boyfriend, athlete, a swimmer, won a few medals, rich and had good looks to tie it all up. Yes. I remember that name. Sadly, she didn't know I had Daniel, my blessing from heaven.
"What about him?" I asked. I saw him once, slick black hair, muscular build, extra tall, never looked like he had an expression. Yeah, that guy.
"He ch-cheated," she said so softly I only heard the word cheated.
"And who told you this?" This time I was concerned. The word cheated and boyfriend almsot never ends well.
"Amy,"
I knew Amy. She was Ninamarie's best friend and minion, tailing her everywhere she went, as if she was more of a personal assistant than a friend.
"When?"
"This morning. I dunno, but the world only came crashing down on me when I finally pieced everything together," she said, this time her sniffing suddenly stopped, shocking me. She looked up at me with a sad smile. "The way Amy and Colton hang out, they wer clingy. He visited her a lot for the past month. And now I pay the price, I trusted my best friend too much!" She shouted, throwing her snot covered tissue on the floor.
There goes my idea of having a clean room.
She started to sob once again, grabbing more tissues and blowing on them.
"A-Amy and Col-Colton cheated behind my back." She rubbed her cheeks, brushing away the tears. "But I guess I deserve it after being such an ass to her." She glanced at me, eyes wavering from my face to my wallpaper behind me.
I shushed her and hugged her tight. She might've been an enemy before, but now, in her most vaulnerable I knew she needed my help the most. I was practically the only girlfriend she had to lean on, if she'd actually call me that.
Her head was on my shoulder as she looked down at the ground, slowly, her crying stopped and it was just dead silence reigning the room.
Finally, she thought of speaking up to me. "What do you know about love Vicky?" She asked, hand clutching the hem of my shirt.
I smiled. Maybe I did just created a new Ninamarie. Maybe I'd just created a new friend.
"Me?" I said in mock shock, hand daintly going to my chest as I give her a funny look.
She giggled lightly, poking me on the side. "Yeah you," she said.
"Well," I started. "I met this guy named Daniel."
She looked up at me with wide eyes. Oh yes. Ninamarie herself knew Daniel personally. The first time she met him she told me words that always made me flinch. "He's charming, sweet, hunky . . . I call dibs!" I took it literally though, but she never really did, a few flirting here and there, but Daniel fell for me instead, Ninamarie just never knew about it.
"A-as in Reese!" She exclaimed, now clutching my shirt so hard that I bet she can create rips already.
I nodded, a teasing smile on my lips. I watched as she looked up at me shocked. She certainly was shocked that Daniel chose me. Heck before he did I would think it was impossible. It felt like a Cinderella story.
I ended up spilling everything to her in the end, from our childhood past ( which she knew about ) to the day he left for the military.
