She was already late for class, as she rushed to grab her newly printed lyrics off the printer; sprinting down the hall to her english class. Her headphones bouncing against her chin. She just barely made it into the classroom before the bell rang. She straightened her hair and acted like she hadent just sprinted to class, and took her seat. The teacher stood up and began the lesson, she put her headphones on and started the new song she just downloaded.
" What happned to us.
Whats happened to the trust.
I thought we were friends.
Until the end.
What happenedIt was you,
I always knew.
I'd never be enough.
Where were you
When I needed you to
Be there for me.I was there
Every day
Where were you
Its a mistake
I wish I never
Met you.You hurt me bad.
It made me sad.
You arent the girl I know
I wanna try but
I know I
Cant do it.You hurt me
Real bad.
You. Made me real sad.
And I'm just supposed to forgive..."She loved this song. So sad, yet beautiful.
The bell rang, she gathered up her belongings and headed to her next class. Dodging between people in the hallways she looked around her...seeing everyone with their friends...she held her music binder closer to her as she went into her D.E. music class, where she sat in a corner writing lyrics for new songs.
But today something was different. Ms. Hunter stood up and next to her was a boy,...no. more a man than boy. He was tall. Blue eyes. Brown hair. He had bracelets all over his arms. I looked down back at my music sheets finishing my lyrics,
"Good afternoon class!" Ms. Hunter called to the class. "This is David Bowmen, he moved here from Philadelphia. Please make him feel welcome," she directed him to a seat two rows away from me. I kept my head down, more focused on my work than what was going on around me. Sooner than I expected the bell rang, and it was time to go. I gathered my things and walked out of the room into the throng of people. I walked out of the building, headphones already on and started jamming to my music. I started the short walk home nodding my head to the beat, feeling the sun on my face as I breathed in the crisp air of summer turning to fall. I had always loved the month of september. The leaves started changing color...the smell in the air...most importantly all the bugs went away. I walked up the steps to the house, opened the door and was promptly attacked by my dog Bartly. "Hey boy! Did ya miss me today? I bet you did, come here," I said in an embarrassing baby voice; scatching his ears and kissing his head. Bartly is a husky. The best lookin one out there. His eyes are bright blue, and his fur is a mix of black and white.
" Mom, I'm home!," I called.
Silence greeted me as I walked to the kitchen. There was a note taped to the fridge.
Went to the store to grab some things for dinner; go wash up and get started on your homework. Your snack is in the fridge on the second shelf. Love you!!!
~MOMI chuckled, moms notes were always like this. She was always worrying about me. I opened the fridge to see what my snack was and found a package of ritz crackers, peanut butter, cheese, apples, And celery.
I grabbed it and took it to the table, unpacking my homework.
Guess I should get started...
