“Tell us where you hid it!”
Those are the first words I hear as soon as my head breaks the water’s surface. I’m struggling to breathe, spitting out the toilet water swilling in my mouth.
“I don’t know! I really don’t!” I scramble to say. I’m clawing at the hands grabbing the back of my head.
“Wrong answer. That’s the last mistake you’ll ever make.”
“Please!” I try to sound as weak and scared as possible in a single word. Maybe they’ll think I’m too pathetic to kill.
Too late. The scummy bottom of the toilet bowl rushes up to meet me and I know, in my heart, this is where it ends.
