Masquerade Murder

One day while my partner and me were eating the most crunchiest churros we had ever had, we heard on the our stolen police scanner that there had been a murder not far from us. We headed over to the address, once we got there I was a little hesitant to get out of the car because seeing dead people made me queasy, but my partner Mitchell bribed me with Taco Bell, which always works. We got inside to see a body laying across the floor pale, with blood all over itself, and knife wounds. Mitchell turned and told me, "Hey I know him, his name is Gus we used to go to high school together. He used to be a super computer nerd. Sad he had to end this way."
"Oh yea I remember him now, I wonder what he got himself into to lead to such a brutal ending." I told Mitch. We went on to interview the only two people who were there that night. We interviewed the Gus's father first.
Mitch asked him, "What did you see the night of the murder?"
He said, "I didn't see anything because I was up in my office tending to some work problems, but I did hear some clanging and doors opening and closing. I assumed that it was the maid finishing up on dishes and leaving, but when i came down for breakfast in the morning I saw my son dead on the floor."
Mitch thought it was interesting that Gus's father did not seem to torn up about his murder. Quickly putting that thought behind us we then went on to question the maid.
Mitch asked asked the maid, "Did you see the murderer?"
"Yes, kind of, all I could see was a dark figure wearing a mask that glistened in the moonlight with gold paint and jewels all over it, and his eyes were like ice that cut through the darkness of the house. After being done being mesmerized by his shapeless figure I saw he dropped the body and left without a trace. I just stood there, petrified. After a few minutes of just standing there I finally was able to get myself to walk out of the house to go home," she told us with her voice shaking. After speaking to the maid Mitch remembered a robbery case in which one of the witnesses describe a man in black wearing a intricate mask on his face. Which lead us to believe that these two cases are connected. We then questioned the rest of the family learning very little from the rest of them, so Mitch decided to go back and investigate why Gus's father was not more distraught about his death.
Mitch asked Gus's father, "What happened between you and your son? You don't seem to upset about his death."
He replied, "I have not seen my son since he graduated high school, we do text each other every once and awhile, but he and his buddy went off to start a repair shop on the most dangerous street in the city, Blindmans Rd. I have not talked to him since."
Mitch thanked the father and we left. Before going to the store we stopped went to the police station to get an autopsy report. The autopsy report told us that Gus was stabbed and his time of death was around 1:45- 3:00 on March 12 after learning this information we stopped for some Chinese food that was impeccable and sped quickly over to the store on Blindmans Rd. We arrived at the little business they ran together called IHelp. It can repair any phone, computer, TV, and anything else you can think of. We went over to the store, which was on a very dark, narrow, scary, and filthy place. We went into the hi-tech store to talk to the cashier who was slightly overweight and wearing a green store uniform.
Mitch asked the cashier, " Hello I am Mitchel Spence and this is my partner Will Chavez and I was wondering if i could speak to your manager."
The cashier told us in a depressed monotone voice, " Sure I will go get him."
The manager came out and our first impression of him was, wow he looks way to good to be working at a low end nerd shop. He came up to use and said, "What do you want?"
We slightly frightened said, "Do you know this man," as we held up the picture of the dead body.
He replied, "Oh no! That's my friend, we own this place together. What happened?"
Mitch told him, "He was stabbed multiple times in the chest. Would you know of anyone who would want to hurt him or if he was involved in anything out of the ordinary?"
He told us, "No not that I have heard of. All he did was come to work and go back to his apartment."
We marveled in how boring his life was, but something was not adding up. How could somebody with such a boring, regular life end up stabbed to death, someone is not giving us the whole story. We finished up questioning the manger then we left to go investigate his apartment. At his apartment we saw it was a one bedroom apartment and it was a complete pig stye. On the table underneath a pile of bills and other papers Mitch found an envelope full of money and it was addressed to him and his business partner from a large well known gang called the
masquerades, they are incredibly dangerous. We Gus's apartment and went out to get a bite to eat while compiling what we had gathered on the case. Mitch remembered that there had been robberies of large estates in the area of the IHelp store that he worked at. He then put together that Gus and his business partner Mike were going around working for the masquerades and robbing different places around their store to make ends meat, but that didn't tell us who the murderer was. We Mitch kept on thinking while munching on a Italian sub in the car. Mitch then decided we needed to go back to the IHelp to question Mike.
Mitch asked Mike, "Where were you the afternoon of March 12?"
Mike answered, "I was working here that afternoon."
"Do you have any witnesses?", Mitch asked
"No, but I will assure you that I was her,'' Mike said annoyed.
"Do you have any surveillance footage we could look at?" Mitch asked.
"Yea, come with me," Miksaid while rolling his eyes
After Mitch had the little conversation with Mike we called the police on our way to the room where Mike keeps the surveillance footage. Mike brought us to the footage room where he left us to conduct our search. We watched the tapes and on the tape we saw mike and Gus had a falling out while mike had a knife in his hand then the tape just stopped. The police arrived and we told them about everything thing. They thought that was enough evidence to arrest him for murder. Mitch told them, "Turns out mike and Gus were working together with the masquerades to make ends meat. One of the jobs the masquerades wanted them to do must have been to extreme for Gus, so he wanted to get out of their work as thieves. Mike was not happy about that so he used the knife in his hand to kill Gus,'' In the end we found the masquerade murderer.
