It all started with that text message.
I didn't know how to feel.
"I really like her."
Why couldn't it be me? Why did it have to be one of my good friends?
The sun was shining through the curtains causing me to groggily wake up. It was a bright yet cold day in March and my alarm kept going off. I reached for my phone and checked the time, 7:45 am. Crap I was late! Class starts at 8:25! I quickly changed for school and ran. I checked my phone, 8:15. I made it just in time to get to my locker before homeroom.
The bell rang for my first class, sports. It was a practical lesson today and since it was the last day of school for the term, my teacher made the lesson different. We did a combined class with some of the older grades. We got into our teams for dodge ball and began our game.
I suck at dodge ball, of all sports why DODGE BALL. I stood on the court beside this guy I didn't know. The game had begun, and I wasn't even trying or in other words, people weren't aiming at me (Thank God). Before I knew it, a ball rolled to my feet and I picked it up. I looked at the guy beside me, he was throwing the dodge balls to the opposing side. I awkwardly approached him, "Um, hey... do you want this?"
I handed him the ball, "Thanks. I'm Felix by the way. You can pass me the dodge balls if you want."
He smiled at me and took the ball. We continued the game this way, me passing and him throwing. I wasn't paying attention, when a ball was about to hit me. "Y/n! Watch out!" Before I knew it he pushed me out of the way and got hit.
He asked if I was alright then smiled at me and walked to where everyone else was queuing to get back in. I continued playing but eventually got out.

I finally arrived home and flopped onto my beloved bed. The scene of him saving me from the dodge ball replayed in my head. My cheeks flushed, and I buried my face into my pillow. It was like he was born with a gift of laughter, his smile made me want to smile, he was kind, he made me feel weird in my stomach. I think I was starting to like him.
