In the evening, two children walked together on a sandy beach. The two of them were twins, both with blond hair blue eyes. The girl was named Riliane, and the younger brother was Alexiel. Suddenly, the boy tripped and began to cry.
Riliane knelt down and helped her brother up. “It’s alright” She said softly, “Surely it’s just a prank played by the naughty twilight.” She looked across the sea and saw the twilight approaching. “We should go home” Riliane said, “Before it gets too dark.”
Beyond the water’s horizon, the twilight was sneering evilly. “Let me swallow you into my black belly so we may play together.”
Alexiel, too, felt that they should leave. ”We must hurry home soon,” He said,”Before we get eaten.”
Holding hands, the two blonde twins quickly left to go home. The small chest they hid on the sandy beach was engulfed by the dark of night and could no longer be found.
Let’s divide the twilight between the two of us.
“I’ll be daytime.” Said Riliane.
“I’ll be nighttime.” Said Alexiel.
And when we hold hands,
We’ll make a beautiful orange sky.
The twins were the children of the king and queen of their country. When Riliane became of age, she would become queen, Alexiel her servant. Their childhood would not last forever.
The third chime of the bell was the signal that the twilight was waking up. He kept gazing at the twins with a very greedy look on his face as they made their way home.
Riliane turned to face the twilight. “I will not share my snack with you!” She declared boldly.
“But I’m hungry” said the twilight. He put on a pitiful look. “Even if I swallowed the whole world, my belly would still be so very hungry.
Alexiel began to feel sorry for him, so he decided to share his snack with the twilight.
The twilight smiled. “Thank you noble prince. To repay your generosity, I’ll tell you a little secret about this ocean.” The twilight leaned down and whispered the secret into the boy’s ear.
