Chapter 1

The desolate wasteland was littered in a blanket of rubble and bodies. Ground and winged animals lay alike in dissolution. The sky was a dark blood red, almost apocalyptic. The bodies on the ground were from two opposing sides. The ground animals had a very mechanical suit; black with dull green streaks on the sides and edges of the suit. The chest area was raised more than the others and had streaks circling around it, with one green line cutting through the middle of it. The suit was completed with robotic, bone-like wings and a helmet. The winged animals had a simple set of armour, a plain grey chest plate and helmet, with little protection to the legs or wings. These had a light blue streak around the sides of the suit. The wings were snapped completely. Bones were sticking out everywhere, and blood oozing out of the wound.

Amidst this destruction, was a small town. The buildings were painted in a dull, dreary black, with faint green streaks similar to that of the armour. Most were quite small, but one large one in the middle. It was a lot taller and brighter than the other buildings; a few chips in the side of it due to the war. This was the old headquarters. Inside it had light grey walls and floors covered in neon green streaks. The floor was blanketed in old yellowish pieces of paper with doodles all over them. Different types of armour and weapons were on the wall as if to show off how they had progressed over the years. A large map was near the back, in between two sets of stairs that joined to make one. Circles and crosses adorned the map, almost covering the entire thing; a large circle around a crude drawing of the building it was in.

As expected, that building wasn't the current headquarters. The current one was hidden deep in a forest, underground. It had a similar black and neon green theme throughout, with yellowish sheets of paper adorning the walls. Most of them were replicas of the ones from the old building. They each showed different parts of the world. A large brown desk sat at the end of the hall, with a large map of Piuma stuck above it, littered with red dots and crosses. In front of the desk sat, no squatted, a small greyish cat. She wore the same robotic suit that the ground animals wore, with neon green streaks rather than dull green. Her attention was focused fully on the sheets of paper sprawled across her desk; many red and black scribbles on them. She was scribbling more and more onto the paper. She didn't even notice when a door opened beside her until it nudged her chair. She practically jumped out of her fur and slammed onto the floor next to her. She stared up at whoever, or whatever, opened the door with a dazed half smile. The smile quickly faded from her lips, as she realised that the people weren't people she knew. Possibly not from the same universe. She shot up and stood up straight, with her arms out at a ninety-degree angle, as if to assert her dominance against the two strangers. What shocked her most about these strangers, were that they weren't animals. They were human.  The taller one had bland, baggy clothes. His mahogany hair stuck out in every angle possible, complimenting the dark purple bags under his eyes. His lack of sleep was painfully obvious. His skin was tanned, and he seemed like he was more than just a very tired man. The shorter of the two had an irritable look plastered on his face. His clothes had a plethora of tears showing his severely sun-deprived skin. He had a confusing mixture of freckles and dirt on his face, almost impossible to separate. His cinnamon coloured hair was long and untamed, and possibly hiding a few sticks and leaves in it.

The cat stared at the two strangers. "Wh-Who are you?" She forced out. None of them knew what was going on. Neither the cat or the humans were aware of where they came from, and the humans had no clue where they were. Her eyes traced their features closely as her fear constantly welled up inside of her. She took a mental picture and ran. She didn't know where, she didn't know what she was going to do, she just ran as fast as her little legs would take her. She ended up running into a forest, where she cowered in a ditch, exhausted. After what felt like forever, a few short, soft footsteps made their way towards her. As they got closer she heard them pause, some soft murmuring, and then a few more before they stopped completely. She was shaking severely and wished that she had just attacked them when she first saw them. Like she was so used to doing. The footsteps seemed to stop just in front of the ditch she was cowering in and looked up to be greeted with the taller man from earlier. She felt so weak. Powerless. Helpless. If he decided to attack her now, she could do nothing to stop him. She curled up and braced herself from an attack or the voice from a high authority from another team. It never came. Instead, she looked up to see the man reaching out his hand with a warm, almost sympathetic smile on his face. She took his hand with uncertainty and confusion and let him lift her out of the ditch. "We don't know anything either." He spoke softly as if to try and show her that he has no intention of harming her. She noticed that the smaller male was not beside him, but rather leaning on a tree in the distance, watching them. She looked back at the taller man and sighed deeply.
