Letters to the Moon

Last night you gleamed through my window,

Shining brightly,

Shining true,

I don't think I've ever seen a star

As beautiful as you.

Though I could only see a sliver

Through my wooden window screen,

My heart was still held captive

By your silver celestial beams.

But sleep,

It rose to claim me,

In darkness and in dreams,

Farewell, moon, until next time

Please don't forget about me.
