How It Feels
Do you know how it feels to be hurt? To be destroyed as if you were a log tossed in a burning fire. Erupted with searing hot flames, ripping your skin apart. And yet, we stay. We stay with the people who hurt us, who engulf us in the rapid oxidation and char our hearts to pure black and beyond repair. We stay because "they may change!" and "everyone hits a rough path". We don't think of our own health, no. We think "oh, but I love them." But do we ever stop to think, do they love us back? And sometimes the answer we give ourselves isn't always a positive one. We love them. And they may not love us. Sometimes in life there are relationships or friendships or even family relationships that are one sided. Maybe you feel you love them and they don't love you. It burns, it aches, it tears you up.
Do you know how it feels to be burdened with a secret? Something you can't tell anyone because it could get you or someone else in trouble, hurt yourself, or someone else? The feeling of dread creeps upon you like a wolf, hunting for food. It eats you inside and all you can feel is a lust to just scream and get it off your chest so you can breathe again.
Do you know how it feels to stay up late just to cry? You stay up so late so no one can hear or see you breaking apart. It's one in the morning, you heart is swollen and your throat is scratchy and sore. Your eyes are stinging but no, you can't cry just yet. Someone is up, someone. Even if they aren't you feel like at any moment someone can walk in and catch you and maybe even make fun of you. Your eyes start to ache as you finally let yourself cry. Your pillow becomes wet, stained with salty tears.-Max
