It was an average Saturday night as a 24 year old. You sat on the couch in the house you shared with your boyfriend, Thomas. He was off working in America, busy filming the Death Cure, or the third book in the Maze Runner series by James Dashner.
You were happy for him, getting to do what he loved, but at the same time, you longed for his kiss. You longed for the way he would wrap his arms around you tiredly and ask to cuddle.
You missed everything about him and you weren't sure how much more of this you could take.
You grabbed the TV remote from the coffee table and turned on a classic horror movie that you used to watch all the time with Thomas. You grabbed your blanket and some fresh, buttered popcorn, and sat back down to watch the movie.
The blanket was up to your chin by the end of the movie, and the popcorn was on the floor from when you dropped it at a jump scare.
At this point, you were too tired to do anything about it, so you just got off the couch and stumbled up the stairs to your large bed.
You got under the covers and closed your eyes, letting sleep pull you in.
After what felt like .7 seconds, you awoke to your phone ringing. You looked at the clock and it read 3:02.
You groaned, grabbing your phone to see Thomas calling and eagerly picked up.
"Hey, Love." You could practically feel his smile though the phone.
"Hey."
"I know it's probably bad timing for you,"
"Really?" You interrupted sarcastically, chuckling. "No, I think 3 AM is an ideal time for a call."
He laughed.
"Anyways, I was just calling to say that there's been a delay and I'll have to stay in America for a few more weeks."
You frowned and bit your lip.
"Okay," was all you said.
"Well, I have to go now, goodnight, love."
"Goodnight."
You placed the phone down with a sigh, tears threatening to fall.
All you wanted was to lay with Thomas and cuddle, but that's apparently not going to happen anytime soon.
You lay down and stare at the wall for a little while, before falling asleep.
-Time Skip-
It had been two months since Thomas was originally supposed to come home and your heart was slowly breaking.
There was still another three weeks of work he had to do and you just couldn't take it.
You grabbed you phone and opened your messages with Thomas.
I'm sorry, you started.
I can't take this anymore. I can't live without you. I can't sit here all alone every time you go to work.
You can't give me what I need desperately from so far away. You mean so much to me, but I just can't wait through all of this.
Tears ran down your cheeks and with your vision blurry, you clicked send.
Moments later, your phone went off in reply.
Wait, what? Y/n, no! Please don't leave!
He begged.
I'll make it up to you, I promise. I'll even leave L.A. and come home, or I'll fly you out here to me! Just... please... please don't leave me.
You stared at the messages, before making your final decision.
I'm sorry, you sent, and that was it.
You grabbed a suitcase and filled it with all your close and necessities before walking out the door.
You knew you screwed up, but your head wasn't in the right place to go back and change things.
You had made your decision, and you were going to stick with it.

Now, wasn't that a happy chapter? Haha
You're welcome.
