The Do Over

The Morning after

After my fight with Mason I didn't see him the rest of the night. Terry had said later in to Chyanne that he had "gotten sick and went home" I honestly don't know how to feel after seeing him, I've missed him so much over the last year and I wanted nothing but to see him but once I did all my anger I've been bottling up surfaced. Doesn't matter now it's time for me to go to my other job. I work at a tiny little book store downtown it's not very popular but I love it and my boss is the sweetest lady on this planet. I got this job shortly after Mason and I moved in I had left Kmart and needed a job and I went in there looking for a new book and the owner and I just connected so well. Long story short I've been working here for 2 years now and I still love it just as much as I did when I first started working here. It's such a different pace then the Club but I get a different thrill out of each of them. I throw on my faded dark blue jeans and my favorite T-Shirt and do my makeup. I'm ready a lot faster today then usual so I decide to go get coffee at a little cafe near the book store. I walk in expecting the same barista I always see but instead it's a new guy ... a very cute guy may I Add. I stood in line staring at this guy he was at least 6'2" and had dark brown hair and oddly enough emerald green eyes. He was absolutely breathtaking, kinda second guessing my appearance since last minute I decided to wear my glasses instead of contacts. When it was finally my turn at the counter I walked up and this guy smiled at me I looked at his name tag and it read the name Andy. I looked up at him to see him staring at me ... what a day to look like a damn bum huh?
"What can I get you?" His voice was deep yet soft
"Oh uh yeah can I-I get a uh" fucking focus serenity speak!
"Just a Carmel latte to go" I mentally kicked myself in the ass for stuttering like an idiot. I looked at him and he just smiled
"Sure thing beautiful" my heart stopped
"Your total I $3.25 but don't worry it's on me" I looked up and he winked ... what the hell is happening.
"Oh thank you so much!" He chuckled he had a nice laugh to match his voice
"What's your name?"
"Serenity" He just looked at me and I knew I'd have to spell it out.
"Alright it'll be up in a minute" I stepped back and waited for my name while I was waiting I kept sneaking looks over at Andy and right before he called my name I saw him write something down.
"Here's your recipe please come again" I smiled and thanked him one last time as I walked out the door I looked at the recipe where I saw a phone number. I stopped and turned to meet his eyes he just smiled and waved I smiled back and walked out the door to work.

I was 4 hours into my shift when I heard the door open
"I'll be right with you!" I finished sticking the books and went to the front where Mason stood at the counter. You have to be kidding me.
"May I help you?" He just looked at me weird
"Can we talk? Please"
"Mason I'm working. And you had a year to talk to me but stayed in the dark. So no we can't"
"Serenity please! Okay I know I'm the worst person and don't even deserve your time but please just 5 minutes." I looked at the clock and realized how slow today has been
"Fine 5 minutes starting now."
" so I know I really messed up and hurt you and I have no right to even be here but seeing you last night... you looked so different and watching you preform it reminded me so much of what we had ... we were so good together Serenity we were happy and I -" I cut him off
"We were happy Mason but I was struggling with my mental health and instead of being a man and helping me like I helped you you left me when I needed you most. I waited for months for you to come back just to find out you already had a new girlfriend. You were my best friend. All I had and you left so yeah you're right you don't have a right to be here." He looked at me with all the sadness in the world. It hurt me to see him this way but I had to stand my ground.
"Your 5 minutes is up I have to get back to work." And with that I walked away for a second time in the last 24 hours.

I got home around 5:30 that night and chyanne was home watching some movie in the living room.
"Hey boo how was your day?" I groaned and sat next to her on the couch
"You'll never believe the day I had" I then told her about the coffee shop incident and then Mason, she listened so closely and I can't help but feel happy around her she's my absolute best friend and I love her so much.
"What a dick! I'm proud of you for standing your ground though! Are you going to text Andy?"
"You know I thought a lot about it and I think I will... he was attractive and seemed to really be into me. I'll give it a shot" she smiled and gave me a hug
"I'm going to shower then do some reading" she just waved me off shoving popcorn in her mouth. I turned in the hot water and got undressed I looked at myself in the mirror and studied my hair. I think it's time to switch it up a bit ... i don't know what I'll do yet but yes definitely need something new. After my shower I changed into my shorts and my Green Day T-Shirt and threw on some knee high socks. I sat on my bed and pulled out my phone and texted Andy
"Hey, this is the girl from the coffee shop this morning(:"
I hit send and felt myself slowly start to panic. I haven't been on a date since Mason and I flirt with guys at the bar but this is different... and I don't know how to feel. I guess now all I can do is wait for a text back and hopefully I won't blow it...
