Percy's POV

I had decided to tell Annabeth about our date yesterday. We had been married for 6 months and I wanted to celebrate. When I told her about it she was really excited and told me that she had a surprise of her own. When I asked her what it was, she said she couldn't tell me or it wasn't a surprise. Well great, I thought, now I'm going to be thinking about that all day.

I had planned this for weeks and I wanted everything to be perfect. I had even resorted to asking Aphrodite for help. She had giggled and called me a hopeless romantic, than she went on for an hour about stuff that I tuned out after the first minute. Hey don't blame me, I'm ADHD.

I finally decided on a candle-lit picnic in Central Park. I drove there early to make sure everything was exactly like I wanted.

As I drove past my mom's old apartment I felt the familiar pain in my chest. She, Paul and my baby sister had all died in a fire a few weeks ago. But I was determined not to ruin this special night for my Wise Girl, so I brushed the feeling to the back of my mind.

Annabeth finally got there and I ran to meet her. As soon as I was within arms reach I picked her up and spun her around in the air. She giggled when I put her down and reached up to give me a kiss.

"Mrs. Jackson, have I ever told you that I love you?" I whispered. She gave me the smile that I loved so much and gave me another kiss in reply.

When we finally stopped I took a step away and offered her my arm. It was out of character, but Thalia said that is what Gentleman do. Annabeth gave me an amused look and I walked her to the picnic blanket that I had set out with our favorite foods, most of it dyed blue of course.

We sat down to eat and spent the next hour simply enjoying each others company. We didn't  speak, content to simply be together. After a while, she turned to me and I got excited about the surprise that I had managed to forget about.

" So what is your surprise?!" I was nearly bouncing up and down in anticipation.

" Oh, Seaweed Brain, it is the best news ever! I'm pregna...Look out!" I suddenly felt a hard object hit me on the back of the head, suddenly my body wouldn't respond. I have to get to Annabeth, was my last thought before I drifted into darkness.

I woke up as I was tossed in a cell. It was square shaped, with the back cast into complete shadow. The floor,  walls, and cealing were made of some strange rock that was darker than obsidian and that I instictively knew blocked any powers I might have. I wish I had Annabeth for comfort. After surviving Tartarus we knew that we could get through anything as long as we were together. But I was alone.

My guard walked away, laughing and snapping me out of my reverie. "Good luck with the monster!" He called back with sadistic glee. I glanced at the back off the little room, trying to see into the darkness. There were alot of monsters that wanted me dead. I called out,

"Hello? Is there anyone else in here?" I was greeted with a Horrible noise that made me want to reach into my pocket for Riptide. I realized that they had taken my sword from me and somehow managed to block the magic that made it reappear. I didn't know at first what the noise was but after i listened for a few seconds I realised that it was coughing. There was definatly something in here, and it sounded very sick.

"Don't worry" the thing called out weakly, I realized that it was female. "I won't hurt you" she, whatever she was, gave a pathetic laugh. "I can't hurt you without hurting myself" While listening, I realized that her voice was strained, like she was in pain.
