CHAPTER

FOUR

I woke up in a haze of heat. I thought I was on fire, but it was only the beating of the sun. I rolled onto my side so that I was facing Graham and Jane. One of the prehistoric cots was empty. This alarmed me, I immediately stood up and my grogginess vanished. After my blanket of slumber was lifted, I could properly think.

"What a crappy night!"

"Got that right," said a voice from behind me. Jane.

"Alright, I guess its time you got talking." I said in my most menacing voice

"Wait for Graham to wake." She said bluntly

I could see she was in no mood to talk about our last nights criminal act. I hoped we never had to go through something like that again, although I did slightly enjoy the excitement of being rebellious. I wondered what would come next, it was all happening too fast, like a poorly written poem. I thought through a lot of ideas, but the most logical one seemed to be to run away.

I told Jane I was going to go get something for us to eat, and was off. The woods seemed a bit more jolly during the day, as opposed to last night. I had a lot of time to exercise, something told me i would need it. After i finally reached the nearest bagel store, i was able to relax. I walked into the pleasant aroma of happiness, and ordered 3 bagels.

"That will be 8.50 dollars, young man." said the cashier in a thick indian accent.

"No problem," i replied casually,"i come here often are tou new?" I asked trying to spark a small hint of conversation before i left.

"Wait...you seem vaguely familiar..." the man turned around and with one bony finger touched a "WANTED" sign

"SECURITY!" he screamed

"Oh shit!" i yelled not worrying of anybody hearing me say the defiant word. In two minutes it had already become what had happened last night...damn"
