Chapter 21

I'm sorry this took so long.

I added this song because I was listening to the album whilst writing this and this song was one of the better ones (in my opinion) and I thought it could fit with the emotion in this chapter, idk?

"Under recent events, I have good and bad news. I'm sure all of you have already heard of this anyway... I'll start with the good news." An elongated sigh escaped Six's lips. "Operators Blitz and Capitão have been reported in a hospital located in Massachusetts. They are safe but they have been injured in the process. This will mean that they won't be able to come back until they are fit to fly. However, good things have to come to an end..." She sighed once again. "Operator Jäger has been sent to the hospital for extreme facial, neck and shoulder acidic burns-" multiple people started muttering and gasping. "He won't be able to work with us until he has healed fully. We don't know when he will come back but it will take up to 4-5 weeks. Operator IQ will be spending one week with him and then she will be fit for active duty. When she comes back, don't pressure her with questions. This is a highly sensitive subject for them both. Meeting dismissed."

- one day after the incident -

"Hey, Dominic. Come on.." Elias urged his friend, tapping his shoulder.
"Yeah, Yeah... hold on... let me finish this quickly." Dominic scribbled down some words on an important-looking document, putting down the pen and folding the paper neatly. He pushed himself up out of the chair and looked at Elias.
"You alright?" Elias asked, putting a protective hand calmly on his friends shoulder.
"Yeah, Yeah... I'm fine. I was planning on going to see Marius this evening, see how he's doing, y'know?" Dominic looked down at his shoes. "I wish it were me. He has so much potential and that happens to him. I have nothing. Gottverdammt!" Dominic kicked his desk and punched the top of it, too angry and too high to care about the pain. "I promised Taina I'd stop... but look at me Elias... I can't..." Bandit fell into his chair, staring at the white powder lines that were laying on his desk.

"Hey Elias..?" Dominic looked back to Elias, realising he wasn't there. He never really was. He was still in America. "Oh... yeah... that's right. I'm going crazy, too..." Dominic chuckled to himself and pulled his shaky fingers through his brown locks. "Time to go, Brunsmeier..." the cop pulled his pistol off the desk and holstered it, strapping it in and turning to walk out the door.

"Do something or talk to someone to clear your head, after that, you should be fine..." Dominic reassured himself, walking down the hallway of the apartment building. He reached the main doors and pushed them open, exposing himself to the late-night English weather. It was chilly, a light breeze and it was dry. The night sky was clear and nothing stood inside of it. Not a flicker of a star, this was only because the compound lights blocked it. Dominic was fond of stargazing, however he never admitted to this. He loved to stare into the night sky and watch the stars. He was planning on doing this at some point with Taina, but he wasn't sure if it was something she'd want to do.

He decided to go to the mess hall first, to see if she was there. Dominic peered through the glass doors, pushing them open and searching around. After entering the hall he saw a few operators sitting around, randomly within the vast room.

"Hey, Brunsmeier! Get your arse over 'ere!" James Porter called out to him, waving towards him. Dominic shrugged and sluggishly walked towards Smoke, who was sitting with Kapkan, Frost and Echo. "What's up with you? You look like shit mate." James chuckled lightly, smiling a little.
"Just tired, haven't gotten much sleep lately."
"I understand that, can't be easy for you at the moment. Want a drink? It's on me..." James put on a friendly smile, wanting to be on the good side of Dominic.
