18 months to figure it out.

Nicholas's p.o.v

"We are going to miss you more than anything."

I look at my parents, their eyes filled with tears. I glance over at my twin sister, her eyes also filled with tears.

"We've never done anything apart before! Why do you have to go, like I know why but just why?"

I gave her a sad smile

"I have no idea."

"Officer Windsor, we're leaving now."

I say one last goodbye to my family, before I leave for my 12 month training deployment.

I get on the boat and throw my bags down in my room before running up to the top deck to take on last glance at my family.

Everyone else crys and yells at their loved ones who are leaving except my family. We just stare into each others eyes in sadness. I look out at the dock untill it disappears into the water. I stay this way for a long time. I don't relise how long until we are called for dinner.

I run over to my best friend Chase who I've known since kindergarten.

"Let's go get something to eat." Us and a few other guys run down to get something to eat because we were STARVING!

We were chatting and eating, all the while I kept thinking of my family at the dock. Standing there...waiting for me. This is going to be a LONG deployment.

After we eat, we decide to explore the ship. We go threw all the decks and floors. 3 and a half hours later we end up back on the top deck.

"Wow this is a big boat."

"You don't say?"

"Hey guys I'm kind of tired."

"Ok see you tomorrow nick."

I walk down to a lower deck and into mine and chases room. I put all my stuff away and place a picture of me and my family on the table beside my bed.

As I fall asleep I beguin to wonder how they are, what they are doing, are they thinking of me?

I close my eyes and fall asleep to the sound of the waves on the boat.
