Third person POV

Ruby was bored. She was sitting in class, listening to her English teacher talk about how Shakespeare is the greatest writer of all time...boring. She didn't like that she had to pretend to be a stupid human, all because she was trying to find as many of the other G.E.M. members as she could. Ruby was... well the ruby. She is a Fire fairy, born under the ruby birthstone. She already knew two of the other gems, the amethyst and the garnet. They were both Fire fairies as well as well as her best friends. Ruby grew up with them and well, to be completely honest, they were her only friends. Marcus, the amethyst, was back in Neraida while Mia, the garnet came with her to Earth on their mission to find the other nine gems. She looked over at Mia, her head was lolling back and forth as she dozed off. Ruby sighed. She knew that if she was here, so were the other gems she was trying to find. Ruby figured that if she could find the others, then maybe the union could reform and bring harmony to Neraida once again. Oh right, and perhaps the most important part is that there are hunters sent by the Water fairies who are trying to hunt the gems down. The Water kingdom sent these hunters to kill off the gems in order to ensure that harmony will never reign Neraida again. This means Ruby has to find nine other people before the hunters find and kill them first.

She came to Earth three months ago and enrolled in North High Secondary School because she had a hunch that one of the gems is currently at this school. The fairy sighed again. It's been three months and she still doesn't know who could be a possible gem, not even the slightest clue. And to be honest, she doesn't know how she would figure out who it is. Let's just say that fairies have gotten extremely good at blending in with humans, not that it was all that hard to begin with.

"...would you come up to act out this scene? Ruby? Ruby?" Ruby snapped out of her thoughts. Her annoying, Shakespeare-loving teacher was calling her up to act out one of the scenes in Hamlet. Great. Just when I try not to draw attention to myself, this happens, Ruby thought to herself. Sometimes, she thinks that her teacher purposefully does things just to get on her nerves. Reluctantly, Ruby got out of her seat and walked up to the front of the classroom, joining one of her classmate who is taking on the role of Hamlet. However, before they could start, Ruby saw a flash of silver heading straight towards her classmate. Not wanting to reveal her identity, Ruby stopped herself before she could produce a flame. However, her classmate stopped the weapon by ripping out an entire section of the classroom floor, using it as a shield. He's a fairy, she thought as her eyes locked with Mia's, who woke up from the loud sound of the classroom floor being ripped apart. Everyone else would have missed it due to the fact that humans can't see magic. The floor slowly sank back to where it was before, as if nothing happened, while the class filed out of the room. They've finally found their first gem.
