"Miles time for school! Don't wanna be late for ya first day at a knew school!" I groaned covering my head with my pillow, and ignored my foster mom. I was too tired. "Miles now or I'm coming up with ice water!" I shot up trying to stand up, but I was tangled in my blanket and face planted. I heard my foster mom laughing. "It's not funny Ma!" I sat up untangling myself and started getting dressed.
I looked at myself in the mirror. I was short for my age of 18; 5'5". I sadly was the shortest in my class. I have one baby blue eye, and one hazel eye. My hair was a brownish red, and was wavy. I had a lean figure. What there was some muscle on me. I was wearing a Panic At The Disco shirt, ripped blue skinny jeans, and work boots. "Miles!" I jumped and grabbed my bag running downstairs. "I'm done crazy lady." I sat at the island setting down my bag, and eating breakfast. "Crazy?" Ma turned around holding a knife. I choked on my food. "I'll show you crazy little boy."
"No! No please. I'm good. You're not crazy I promise." I cleared my throat and put my hands up. "Good now eat you have ten minutes." I smiled starting to eat again. I loved mornings like this; just me and ma. My real parents were druggies. My mom was always drugged up on heroin, and my dad was an alcoholic. They both would beat me every time they got mad. I was ten when Child Protection Services took me away. My dad got killed soon after my twelfth birthday, and my mom was sent to prison for killing him; 25 to life. CPS brought me to my ma, Dianna Kingsman. She was the sweetest person you could ever meet. I ran into her arms the moment I saw her. For the last eight years we've done everything together. I wouldn't trade her for the world. I finished my plate putting it in the sink, and kiss Ma on the cheek. "Heading out. See you after school. Love you." She was washing dishes and smiled. "Be good. Don't forget to pick up your meds after school. Love you baby." She kissed my cheek back, and continued the dishes. I grabbed my bag, shoes, and keys heading out the door. "See ya later!" I closed the door, and rushed over to my new black Jeep Wrangler. I got in starting it heading to the school. I turned into the parking lot, and parked getting out. New year, new school. I headed in finding the office right away. "Can I help you young man?"
"Um yes. I'm Miles Kingsman. I start today."
"Oh yes. Let me go get Mrs. Lake." The secretary got up walking into another room. I stood there watching the students in the hall through the window. "Mr. Kingsman?" I jumped and turned around see an elderly woman. She had gray hair and blue eyes. She didn't look old, but you could tell she was wise in years. "Yes?"
"Ah, my name is Mrs. Lake. I am the Dean of this school. We aren't like other schools, but very similar. We are like an academy, but with less rules and regulations. Shall we start your tour?"
"Yes please." She walked out of the office, and I followed suit. "Middletin High is a place for anyone. We support all ethnicities, races, genders, and so forth. We have many clubs to choose from, but your homeroom teacher will tell you more about it. This is the..." I listened as she showed me around the school, and would always ask me if I had any questions. We finally got back to the office, and I received my schedule, books, and locker number. "I will give your homeroom teacher a call telling him you'll be a little late. Miss Carla will show you to your locker, and I hope you have a great day." I nodded as she left. "You survived?" The secretary laughed, and showed me to my locker talking with me. "Thank you again Carla. You're awesome."
"No problem Miles. If you need anything I'm here. Mr. Hexen's room is just down this hallway three doors down on your left." She waved me bye as I did the same, and opened my locker putting away things I didn't need. I closed it, and headed to class. I opened the door, and walked in. The class stared at me whispering to each other. "Ah, Mr. Kingsman I presume?" I looked the teacher. My heart stopped, and my mind raced.
