Having someone who loves you, is a blessing. You won't find many who will truly love you as though you're precious treasure. But... What if you were with someone who doesn't love you, but you love them?

Chapter Five
A girlfriend

The school day passed by quicker than I thought it would have, and it was time for detention. Being in a room alone with Mr. Brait didn't seem to be a  good idea.

It was torture enough that I had to see his face for an hour, so seeing him twice for the day was complete overkill.

I didn't know where Naomi or Nathan were, but I didn't bother to look for either one of them. I'm usually a punctual student, but being early for a  detention seemed... Weird to me.

I was told by my dad that a detention is one of the worst experiences in high school. You'd be stuck in a classroom with a teacher, doing whatever they ask you to do. He constantly reminded me to never get a detention, and here I am going to detention.

I continued to walk ahead, seeing the end of the hall, which split into two other halls. I went down the one to my left, as Nathan told me to do, seeing a white metallic door ahead.

Nathan had told me he had to do something urgent, so he couldn't follow me to the detention room. I didn't blame him though for not wanting to come.

He had his fair share of being stuck in detention for an hour. This, however, was my first time going to detention, which I was not looking forward to.

The hall was deserted and quiet, and the sunlight shone through the rectangular-shaped, glass windows overhead. I'd always come on the second floor for biology classes, but I'd never seen this part of the second floor before.

I was never the curious type, so I allowed myself to discover new experiences naturally. I neared the door cautiously, wanting to know firstly if anyone was in there.

I pressed my ear against the door, trying to listen for a voice.

Nothing.

I felt relieved to know that I had little time to prepare myself for what might be the worst way to spend your time after school. I opened the door, and was surprised to see the opposite of what I'd been thinking.

There were five rows within the room, neatly arranged. The teacher's desk was directly at the front, pressed against the wall next to it. The whiteboard was about a few meters behind of it (and to the right of the desk), clean and white as it should be. The large glass windows allowed the light from the evening sun to shine in the room, being the only source of light in the somewhat large space.

I had thought the detention room to be a messy, dirty, and terrible place children were sent to suffer. But to my surprise, it was a well-kept room, free of anything I had thought it to be.

I decided to sit in the first row on the other side of the room, and close to the immediate back. I placed my bag on top of the desk, and pulled the metallic chair from underneath it.

I took my time to sit, wanting the silence to remain. It felt peaceful to be alone in that room, I felt as though I never wanted to leave, which was odd seeing as though this is the detention room.
