This is an Omegaverse story told in first person. (Ex: I, me, my)
In the Omegaverse genre, there are three types of people, which will be further explained in the Terms part of this chapter. In this story, like in many other Omegaverse stories, certain parts are changed to suit the writer's taste and desired effect. In this story, a person 'presents' when they hit puberty. 'Presenting' will be further explained in Terms. A Heat Cycle happens in Omegas every three months, lasting from four days to a week (although two weeks isn't unheard of). An unmated Alpha will go into Rut if it smells an Omega in heat; an unmated Beta will be effected by the smell of heat, although not as badly.
An Alpha will go into Rut only when it smells an Omega in heat (unless it is mated, in which case it only goes into Rut around it's mate).
Social Order:
Alphas are the authority figures, since it's so easy to look up to them. They make up about 1/4 of the population.
(Neither Males nor Females can get pregnant.)
Betas are average people, although some lean more towards Alpha or Omega. They make up a little over 1/2 of the population.
(Females can get pregnant.)
Omegas are expected to do as they're told, and often have no say in their lives. They make up about 1/4 of the population.
(Both Males and Females can get pregnant.)
Terms:
Alpha: typically strong and confident. Most mean well and work hard, although quite a few are egotistical and horrible.
Alpha-Beta: a Beta that leans more toward Alpha than Omega. A mix between the two.
Beta: a perfect balance between Alpha and Omega. Are generally hard workers, and tend to get a lot done.
Heat: Only Omegas go into Heat. During heat, an Omega can get pregnant.
Knot: a bulge at the base of the shaft that swells after completion.
Knotting: an Alpha will Knot when he mates with an Omega, or if he is extremely turned on when mating. This increases the odds of getting an Omega or female Beta pregnant.
Marking: can include cuddling, licking, or kissing. The blending of a couple's scents. Not permanent.
Mating: actual sex. Not to be confused with 'Marking'. Once Knotted, cannot be undone.
Omega: typically weak and easy to push around. Only a few ever amount to anything important.
Omega-Beta: a Beta that leans more towards Omega than Alpha. A mix between the two.
Presenting: when a person hits puberty, a mark appears on their left shoulder. The mark identifies them as Alpha, Beta, or Omega.
Rut: basically an Alpha being horny. Alphas have to seclude themselves during Rut if they can't mate, or else they break anything around them.
Scenting: the act of rubbing one's scent on another. More platonic than Marking.
Scent Glands: located on the wrists and ankles, in the crooks of the neck, and on the sides. Small, sensitive lumps that produce a person's natural scent.
