The birth defect I mentioned is just having hair, tail, and eye color that isn't the same as other Saiyans, even if you have the same hair and eye color, your tail will be the same color as your hair so you are different from other Saiyans.

Third person Pov
On the warrior race planet of Vegeta, a saiyan mother and father are looking at their young infant, who had H/C hair and tail, and E/C eyes. They were confused and concerned by his different tail/hair color, the normal Saiyans tail/hair color was always brown/black, and it was made even weirder when the child was being very passive, not attacking or biting anything that moved too close, he was acting peaceful, even laughing when someone poked him. They watched as a doctor looked it over.
Doctor: "The good news is there is nothing wrong with him, he's perfectly healthy, and his power level is above average for a middle class soldier mating." He said as he looked at the couple, who gave a brief sigh of relief before the mother realized something and asked with a raised eyebrow.
Mother: "Good news? So are you telling me there's bad news?" She asked as the doctor sighed and walked back to the strange child.
Doctor: "Yes well.... we won't be able to change his appearance back to the normal saiyan type." He said which has a bigger impact then you would think. Saiyans by nature are a prideful race, so being a saiyan who has a physical defect in hair color would certainly make him shunned by his race. The father didn't care what happens to the kid given the lack of a chance to change him, he didn't even give him a name. They choose to send him to a random planet, but leave messages so he can know of his race-which in itself took a lot of convincing from the mother-given he wouldn't know any other way with the difference in appearance. Once they had everything ready they sent the pod off, but not long after the departure a wormhole opened in the path of the pod, the pod entered and disappeared. It came out of another portal and was leading to crash into a planet with a broken moon.
Jack (An oc of mine) Pov
Jack: My wife, 4 year old daughter, and I were walking down a little path near our house on the island of patch as we heard a strange noise coming from the sky. At first we thought it was a grimm and my wife and I went in front of our daughter to protect her. After we looked up we saw it was just a shooting star, well that's what Claire my daughter was jumping about, that was until it started heading near us. It missed hut flew off in the distance, to make sure no one was injured from the landing we ran towards its crash site. We ran through the forest until we found a crater with something that didn't look like a floating piece of space rock. It was white and had a red glass orb on it. My wife Maya looked to our daughter and told her not to follow us as we both slid down the crater, getting to the craft. When we reached it and wiped the dirt off the glass to reveal a child, an infant with H/C hair and a H/C tail.
Maya: "A faunus? What's he doing here and in this pod?" She asked as she looked around it to find an opening. She found a lever and pulled it, making the pod hiss and open slowly, letting us pick up the still sleeping child. Maya picks him up and holds him to her chest, most likely to help him from the cold. He instantly curls up closer to her which was a little adorable to see as he softly yawns and opens his E/C eyes to look up at her, he smiles and giggles at her which makes her smile as well. I look at the pod further. I see a tag on a panel of the pod. It read 'gear and lessons' I didn't quite know what that meant so I pressed the panel which opened up a compartment which contained some kind of suit with armor and some odd ear piece looking thing. I took the armor and the ear piece, the armor and under-suit for the armor seems to be stretchable. I look back at Maya and she's rocking the child with a smile on her face, I know that look, and I know what she's gonna say. She looks at me and then back at the child. "We can't take him to the orphanage, you know what they do to faunus, even now." She said with a sad look. She would know how the faunus are treated at orphanages, she was from one herself. As her and Claire are both spider faunus. Maya was raised in a orphanage in vale. They were racist and abusive to the faunus there and I would kick myself into a pile of angered grimm if this kid had to live even a fracture of what Maya had to. I nod and walk over to her and kiss her forehead.
Jack: "I know, which is why he won't be anywhere near one." I said softly as I poked the little guys stomach, making him giggle and grab my finger. I smile at him as he squeezes my finger. "Wow he has a strong grip. What should we call him?" I asked as Maya thought it over.
Maya: "Hmmm how about Y/N?" She suggested, which actually sounds nice.
Jack: "Y/N? Yeah I like it, suits him." I said as we made sure we had everything before heading back up the crater with Y/N in Mayas arms. Once we got out of the crater we saw Claire playing with some sticks. She sees us and then ran over. She sees Y/N and looks at us confused and with a hint of hope.
Claire: "Who's this?" She asked, looking at him and poking him, making him giggle and grab her finger, which made her giggle. I looked at Maya and she nodded at me.
Jack: "This, is going to be your new brother Claire, his name is Y/N." I said as she gasped with joy before jumping around and finally going back to poking the infant, making him squirm and giggle. I smiled as we start to head back home. I wonder where he came from, I guess it would be wise to get some friends of mine to help me move his pod thing to the house at some point soon in case there's anything else in it, don't want anyone else to take it.

A/N
There you go, now I know it's a large stretch to make a full saiyan different but at least I explained it somewhat unlike others who just gloss over how the reader may look nothing like a saiyan even though he's full blooded. (I have no hate towards stories who do this, I'm just making a point that it can be a little weird to not see it explained, maybe that's just me.)
