"Here we go again," Baekhyun whispers behind me. I hear Suho and Tao sigh.
I chuckle softly as I push open the heavy metal door. Light blinds me as we step into the rooftop. A cold breeze sweeps through making me shiver involuntarily. I straighten my uniform as I cast a glance around.
I hear footsteps behind. I turn and watch as four other students come close us. I lock eyes with the one wearing a denim jacket.
Kai.
"I thought you'd never show up," he says, giving me a look. "And I see you brought friends again. Scared?"
I roll my eyes. "You brought friends too."
He runs a hand through his silver hair as a small lock fall into his eyes. His boyfriend, Kyungsoo, stands close to him. Lay and Chen glare meaningfully at us. Tao curses silently beside me.
"Well I'm curious," I say, folding my arms in front of me. "What is it now?"
I feel Suho hyung's hand on my shoulder, cautioning me.
"You skip classes," Lay says, narrowing his eyes at me.
"You always get in trouble," Chen points out.
"Funny how you don't get punishments at all," Kyungsoo sneers.
"Funny how you get high scores in our exams," Kai says in a measured voice.
I laugh softly. "Did you guys make a script for this?"
Suho's hand tightens on my shoulder. Baekhyun scoffs.
"It's just strange," Kai tells me. "You know how we always get in trouble too. And we get punishments. We barely pass our exams. But you? You always seem to have your way. Oh right, because you're filthy rich and you can have anything you want."
Well it's not my fault I'm filthy rich. And it's not my fault my dad and Professor Lee, the school head, are close friends either. So it's not really surprising I don't get punishments at all. But of course, no one knows about it except my friends.
"I get in trouble because of you," I say icily. "And unlike you, I'm smart enough to pass my exams."
He clenches his teeth as he glares at me. "You're cheating no doubt."
"He should have been kicked out of Exeoul University if he is," Baekhyun points out.
"I don't really get what you're pointing out except that you're just jealous of me," I tell Kai, tapping my foot impatiently.
"I'm not jealous of you," he snaps. Tao flinches beside me. "I know I'm far better than you."
"I shouldn't have come here wasting my time with your crap," I say.
"Yah, Sehun-ah! You think you're better than me?" He takes a step towards me.
I slip my hands inside my pockets. "Let me give you a piece of advice."
"Like hell," he hisses.
"Stop pestering me and just mind your own business," I tell him through clenched teeth.
I hear students coming up the stairs.
"We're not done yet," Kai says, shooting me a dirty look, and walks away with his friends.
I curse under my breath just as students burst into the rooftop.
"He's really a piece of work," Baekhyun says.
"That's enough. Let's go. It's cold here," Suho says.
I nod and we get down.
"Ever since middle school you two never seem to get tired of each other," Suho tells me as we walk to our respective classes.
