"Isn't it weird for you to be at the receiving this time around?"
The auditorium was fairly lit, not enough to completely blind Dani, but enough to help people inside see where the hell they were going. It was only normal for auditoriums like this to be barely lit before performances and dark as hell during performances, it was for the purpose of giving the performers the audience's undivided attention.
"Hey, Clark Maddison to Danielles Heinrich, you still breathing there buddy?" With the way Clark was poking Dani's face with his finger, there was no way in hell she could possibly space out now. "What is it?," Dani asked, obviously annoyed. They boy smiled at her and repeated the question from earlier.
"why would it be weird?"
Clark leaned back at his seat and shrugged "I mean, you're the one who's always in the middle of the stage, playing, right? Sitting here as one of the audience must be new to you." Dani didn't know where he got the idea that just because she plays the piano in a lot of recitals means she doesn't know how it feels like to watch others play it, but she was sure it was definitely the dumbest statement Clark had said thus far today.
"As long as I hear the music it's all the same for me."
Clark Maddison has been Dani's friend for God knows how long. He's tall, taller than an average male teenager, and dark skinned. He has curly black hair, broad shoulders, and an aura that screams "gentleman" even if he was anything but. Dani may have been a little rude to him just a minute ago but she appreciated him and his tough build. Clark was a walking and breathing man repellant. Any man wouldn't think twice of flirting with Dani whenever she was with him.
He's not a huge fan of classical music like Dani was, but he knows how much Dani loves these performances so he takes her to one every now and then.Like a date, except as best friends. Even if all he does is sleep through the whole thing and annoy Dani before and after the show. Dani was glad she had a friend like him. she was glad to even have a friend at all.
"So," Clark drawled, leaning towards Dani, "I think we were a little too excited and came a little too early. Want something to do? like, maybe, eat food?," he flashed that innocent smile of his at her. Sure he didn't like the music being played in the auditorium, but that doesn't mean he doesn't like the food that the stalls outside the building offers. With a smile, Dani shrugged, "Sure, why not?"
They left the auditorium side by side with their wallets in their hands. Before approaching a food stall, Dani told her best friend that eating inside the auditorium wasn't allowed so he should finish his food outside while he still can. He might get kicked out of the building for attempting to even sneak a corndog in, though Dani doubts it. If there's one thing she does not underestimate, that is Clark's ability to literally devour the food of his choosing in seconds.
Clark bought his favourite, corndogs on a stick and two servings of steamy cheesy fries. Dani, however, brought only a biscuit and one bottle of water and suggested Clark to buy a bottle of water as well. "You sure you'll be satisfied with that?," Clark mused, squinting at Dani's poor choice of delicacy. She only rolled her eyes at his judgement and took the seat next to him on the bench, ignoring the way he continued to scrutinise her food. Talk about rude.
"I think I'll be just fine, Clark, thanks for the concern."
"If you're afraid to gain some weight, don't be. You're ugly, and fat or not, you will continue to stay ugly- ow!" A fist connected to his shoulder, Dani's fist, and it was strong enough to make the guy place his food down on the bench to caress his now probably bruised shoulder. "Fuck off, Maddison. Just be grateful we're at public or I could've have punched you straight in the dick. If you had one."
