Soul Mates are hard things to come across. Some people never find them. Some people look their whole lives for them, and others don't believe in them. I used to be the latter, until I meet him.

I meet him when I was in 7th grade. We were friends instantly. You could never find me without him by my side, we were inseparable. Every fleeting moment we spend together, I could feel myself falling for him even more; little did I know he felt the same way. Days turned to weeks, weeks to months, and months to years.

Within the blink of an eye, we were graduated from high school and enjoying our last summer as kids. It was a beautiful summer day and we decided to walk down to the beach. His arm was nonchalantly slung over my shoulders, his lanky body towering over me. He had always been a tall person, hell; he was 6'2 during the first week of our freshman year! I, on the other hand, stopped growing in 8th grade reaching  5'4 at the end of the year.

We reached the beach and set up our blanket and cooler. After that, we walked the shore, hand in hand like always, thinking nothing of it. We had always walked like this, it was just our thing. We splashed around in the water for a bit but he wanted to swim some laps, so I walked back to our stuff and pulled out my book to read. He came back after a few laps and laid next to me, his head resting on my lap, his chocolate curls dripping water on my thighs, his bright green eyes closed in content. My fingers ran trails through his hair absentmindedly as I read.

We stayed like this for what felt like forever, both of us content. Little did I know his stomach was doing flips. He shifted and sat up with a worried look on his face.

'What wrong?' I ask. He looked nervous and reached into the bag pulling out a small blue velvet box. He stood, and took my hands in his, making me stand as well. He then went down to one knee and looked up at me with his beautiful green eyes that held so much emotion. My hand covered my mouth and tears were flowing freely down my cheeks.

'You have been with me, for so many years. The moment my eyes meet yours, I knew that you were going to be the end of me. You are more than just my best friend, you're my soulmate, and I have no intention of letting you go.'

He opened the blue box to reveal a simple silver band with two gems in the top. It was beautiful. "Nyra Frey Jones,' he said. 'Will you marry me?' He asked. I couldn't speak for fear of bursting out into tears, so I simply nodded yes. The ring fit like a glove, and I have never been happier.
