It isn't okay
To watch the news
And be aware of the issue
But do nothing to resolve it
And don't you dare tell me
That one person doesn't make a difference
When you know damn well
It's just an excuseIt isn't okay
To pick on me because I was born
Darker than you
My hair isn't anything like yours
The food I eat is different
Or even if I dress differentlyIt isn't okay to
Look for someone else inside of me
Or try to change how I think
Because it benefits you
I'm tired of being silenced
My words are just as important as yoursIt isn't okay
because God made me how I am
And if you don't like it
Go fuck yourself
I'm not looking for your approval
Or anybody's for that matter so
Just let me breathe
And give me the opportunity
That you denied my ancestors
And I'll leave you alone
