As I watch this beautiful Beasty sleep, I begin to think and accept these feelings I've been trying to push away. I begin to chant and try to remove the curse I had bestowed this child almost sixteen years ago, but it is futile. No power on earth can stop it. Not even me.

The smile on my face as I watch him play among the creatures of the Moors softens into a slight frown as my heart fills with dread. I don't know how I can keep the curse from happening and it worries me.

I watch with hope as the encounter with the young wandering princess ends and the boy smiles at her as she rides off towards the castle.

"Did you see that?" Diaval asks.

"Yes. What of it?"

"She could be the one to break the curse! She has to be!"

I hum. "Maybe."

We go back to the Moors and hours later, Beasty arrives.

I smile at him but his wariness causes it to drop. "What's the matter?"

"My aunt's. They told me everything. About my parents. About how an evil fairy called Maleficent cast a horrible curse on me when I was a baby."

I only lower my head in shame and regret and that is enough to give him the final piece of information that he didn't know he needed until now.

"You're Maleficent." In a panic, I reach out to him, but he steps back as if I was on fire. "Don't touch me." With that, he turns and runs.

I don't follow. "Find the girl," I order Diaval. He flies off and I stand staring in the direction Beasty went.

I watch from behind the dress curtain as the princess from before places her lips on Beasty's after being pressured by the small, annoying fairies. It doesn't work and they all leave the room. I go over and stand at his bedside. "I will not ask for your forgiveness because what I have done to you is unforgivable. I was so lost in hatred and revenge. Sweet Aurelian, you stole what was left of my heart. And, now, I've lost you forever. I swear, no harm will come to you as long as I live. And not a day shall pass that I don't miss your smile." I lean down and press a soft kiss to the corner of his lips. Just as I turn away from him to compose myself, I feel a tug on my sleeve. I look down and the tears I was trying to push away, fall. There lies a smiling Beasty.

"Hello, Godfather."
