She was in her room and she decided she wanted to say hi to her sister, but she was already on her way up the creaky stairs. She walked in and said "Can I read your book Eveline?"

"No!" Eveline said

"Why?"

"Because!" she shot back. This is how a normal conversation would go between them. Short... One word at a time. They didn't talk much because the were never close.

"You're not using it! Maria (Eveline's sister)" said Evi

"Fine!" she said and went to get it. Her sister ripped it from her hands. "Wait!" Her sister ran to her room. She followed. "Don't..."

"Stop!" Maria said.

"I said don't ruin the book by bending it!" She grabbed her arm an pulled her back.

"Mom!!!!!" Her sister yelled. "Your stupid immature bitchy daughter just full on beat me up!" her mom came running down.

"Enough!" her mom said running towards Eveline and grabbed her course black and wavy hair. Her mother whipped her on the bed. She pulled her hair and smacked her as hard as she could. Eveline ran to her room and locked the door, she didn't even care about the book anymore, just her being safe and not being abused by her mother, again.

She went to bed and kept the door locked. Her mother banged on the door. "Why is it locked?" Her mother Ani yelled.

Eveline sat up and covered herself in her pink blankets and tried not to be afraid. Her mother opened the lock with a key and barged in. "Why are you so bitchy?" Her mother said.

"I.. I "

"Shut the fuck up!" Her mother snapped.

"Yes ma'am"

"Ma'am? Excuse me? What am I?" Her mother smacked her one last time before she left the room.

She came back and Eveline was scared as hell. Her mother said. "I'm sorry. I got out of control" she hugged Eveline and said "Evi, I love you." Eveline hugged her back so she wouldn't be beat again. Her mother left the room and she was scared, scared that she would be brutally beaten again and scared of her own family. She stayed in her room, not telling anybody about her wounds and she felt scared to ever tell a soul.
