Different
I'll not sing sour melodies imposed by you, or write sad symphonies I'm expected to
My humble feet, won't fit your shoes, your heels too high for the views I choose
My furrowed brow you say offends; my lashes long; your wrath impends
Whilst tone of skin detracts your view; though not my choice; an offence to you
Your spirit cries in your castle, deep, as infected flies swarm the thoughts you keep

Like broken glass, glared, frozen fears, a shattered path of fragmented tears
Poisoned roots form words you sow, tainted soil grooms the hate you grow
But I'll not wallow in sympathy, scorned and despised for integrity
Like a fish, I'll swim with faith beside, through putrid nets strewn at my side
To waters blue; a sunset hue, where all things different have voices too

If snow was red, how bleak the show, and if roses bled, how would they know?
Ask not the swallow the path it flies or question the elephant why its tusks reside
The beauty of difference transcends all things; nature's images on silent wings
And yet there's doubt, though I am free, for the chains you wield you say belong to me
Come walk in my shoes; the soles never dry; soaked in humanity's innocent cry

Let silver clouds follow paths driven, let grass grow thin where daffodils have risen
And magnolias rise in the morning sun, unhindered by shadows and cobwebs once spun
Blossoms of white, whispering secrets in glee, as grey rabbits at night scamper tirelessly
And if blind we be, just one colour see; a grey canvas we'd paint without integrity
Yet, hope is free, for a shared destiny; so I give you my hand, for I am proud to be me
