The Party

It was the blazing summer of 2016. School had just let out about a week prior and everyone was starting to get into the summer spirit. Julia, Gracie and I had big plans for this vacation since it was the summer before our senior year of high school. We mainly were anticipating to get more entangled in social events and parties but there was one party I was unsure of and that was the one at Mr.Bradsons house.

The Bradsons were lovely people. Their son, on the other hand, was not. Jason Bradson was always in trouble. He fought students, teachers, and even police authority. Jason was also a heartbreaker. He would go after any girl he remotely was interested in. So, needless to say, I was not very fond of this "bad boy Bradson". His parties were supposed to be ragers but the only raging going on happened to be in my body.

Gracie, Julia, and I were debating whether or not to go to Jason's party later that week. Julia was practically pleading for me to go. I reluctantly agreed on behalf of the factor that Gracie doesn't like going to these kinds of occasions without me. In conclusion, later that week I, Aphrodite Rose, would be going to one of Jason Bradsons parties.

Four days had passed. It was ultimately the day of the party. Julia was ecstatic while preparing for the party. She was practically bouncing off the walls. Gracie wasn't as excited for she is a shy and introverted sort of person. I was just there to support my girls and keep them safe. Gracie and I were ready after 5 minutes but another 45 went by before Julia was completed. Now all that was left was to head to the party and stay sober enough to make it home.

When we pulled up to the driveway of the Bradsons house there were already four people passed out on the lawn and three people practically naked in the pool as though they didn't realize this was a social event and others could see them. Julia ran into the kitchen and got herself acquainted with everyone while Gracie and I sat on this clearly used ancient relic of a couch. It was tattered with holes big enough to be cup holders and cushions flat enough to be a panini. After observing my destructive surroundings I looked around for my drunk and drowsy friend Julia. I couldn't seem to find her when I had glanced around the room so I had to get up and walk. I then left Gracie alone to see if Julia was outside. As I walked over passed out bodies I made my way to the pool. The only person around the pool at that time was Jason. He had seemed distressed which made me concerned knowing how Julia was with him the whole night. I had asked him if he saw where she had gone but he said he thought he saw her leave with someone. Jason said, " She left with this guy. I didn't know the guy though, he was just a tall and bulky guy." This was a problem for me. We were all supposed to stay together so that if anything happened we would know what to do but at this point, Julia was gone. I had then gone back into the kitchen area to discuss the events with Gracie but I was shocked and horrified to find she had vanished too.

They had disappeared. Julia and Gracie, my two best friends, had disappeared. I was supposed to watch them that night and make sure nothing bad happened but I lost them. The party was dead silent as either people were leaving or were sprawled on the floor. I had looked for them both for about three hours before realizing there was no way they were here. Jason had helped me look, knowing how it was his house and he knew where everything was. Jason told me to go home, rest, and then to call them when it's the morning. The next morning, I called them. No answer.

Seven weeks had passed and no one had seen them. The police had launched an investigation but they had little details to go on. No one knew where they were and no one could figure out what happened. Their parents all blamed me and said I shouldn't have taken them. The police had a small list of suspects which involved Jason and I. We had nothing to do with the case but everyone thought we did. Jason really wanted to help but he couldn't do much. I think he was just feeling pity for me because it all happened at his party. To my surprise, he wasn't that bad of a guy. He really cared about everything that was going on and spent some time with me. I don't think he wanted me to be alone with my thoughts.

School started on August 3rd. On my walk to school, I had tried to avoid everyone by staring at my phone but that didn't work. Everyone said they were sorry for me as if I was the one missing. I had ignored my surroundings and walked into my first class. That was when I looked up to see Jason. He was in my first class. Jason and I sat together and hung out all day. We had talked about how weird everyone was acting around us and then we agreed to meet up later after school. When the last period bell rang I began to walk home. I had three hours before I was expecting to see Jason but while I was walking home that day I got a weird sort of feeling like someone was watching me. Assuming the feelings were my superstition from everyone at school staring at me, I brushed it off and I had gotten home perfectly safe. Although, I was unsure if I was indeed truly safe now.
