Abbey’s P.O.V

Just before Ariella went to bed, I went out into the lounge. I closed the bedroom door behind me and within a few minutes I knew she was asleep. I opened up the fridge and got out an apple, taking a bite out of it; trying to keep my indirect promise to Ashton. I sat down on the couch and unlocked my phone. There was a notification for a text that I hadn’t seen before. I clicked on the thread and saw a video message from Michael.

“Hey Abbey, I feel like it’s been a long time. I hope you’re doing fine, but everything here sucks. It’s a shame things didn’t work out the way we wanted them to, and lately being with you again is all I can think about. I fucked up, I know. I fucked up really bad, but I will do anything it takes to get you back. I love you so much. I don’t care if it is going to take days, months or years; I’m going to make it right this time. You’re the only person I want to be with all the time. I love you, and you’ll always be the reason for the smile on my face,”

The video shut off and I could swear I was in tears. Before I could stop myself I was calling him.

“Abbey? You called!” he sounded overjoyed

“Hey,” I said quietly

“I miss you,”

“I miss you too, but I have a question,”

“Hit me,”

“How have you been? Like how have you been holding up?”

“It’s been okay, Ashton has been helping me out a lot, how about you?”

“I really want to say the same, but it isn’t. I’m really bad, but Ash has been trying to help me too,”

“He hasn’t told me anything, I ask him but he says that everything you tell him is between you two,”

“Oh, really? Well basically I haven’t slept or eaten much since that day,” I sighed

“Abbey, please for the love of everything eat,”

“I just had an apple,”

“Are you and Ariella coming to visit soon?”

“I think in like a week, why?”

“Like I said, I miss you,”

“I miss you too,”

“Are we on talking terms again?”

“I guess,”

“That’s cool,”

“Yeah,”

“I love you, Abbey,”

“Don’t say that please,”

“Why?”

“It hurts Michael,”

“I’m really sorry for what I did,”

“I don’t think that’s my problem, I think it’s how I found out,”

“I’m still sorry,” he said

“Well talk about this in person okay? I will try convince Ariella to get us plane tickets,”

“Okay, speak soon,”

“Bye Michael,”

I hung up the phone and lay down on the couch for a few moments before - for the first time in ages - falling asleep.
