Ariella’s P.O.V
Two weeks had gone by. Abbey and I had finally gone grocery shopping and considering the boys would be returning tonight, we decided to cook them dinner; well Abbey was going to cook, I was going to help where I could.
We weren’t able to pick up the boys from the airport as neither of us were actually able to drive. They were going to get a taxi and show up here in about another hour. I turned the TV on so there was some background noise to drown out the silence. I switched it to the news.
‘Breaking News, hurricane threatening to hit Australia after hitting the North Island of New Zealand, mainly in the area of Auckland.’
“Turn it up,” Abbey said. I obliged.
‘All flights from New Zealand to Australia and flights from Australia to New Zealand have been cancelled until the weather clears, which doesn’t seem to be in the near future,’
“I guess the tour is cancelled then?” I asked
“Well if we can’t get there,”
“I was really excited to go home, to show them our home town,”
“I’m sorry Ariella, I was excited too; maybe they will just delay the tour and we will go another time,”
“I guess,”
I changed to a music channel and cringed at the song that was playing, but I let it continue.
The next hour seemed to flow by slowly; but soon enough I could hear laughs coming from the front yard, and knocking at the door. I waited for Abbey to answer the door with me four boys walked through pulling us both into a full on group hug.
“I missed you guys,” I said, lightly muffled. There were agreements and everyone pulled away.
Everyone sat down at the table. We helped ourselves to the spaghetti bolognaise that Abbey made. About halfway through the meal the boys stopped and started to talk to us.
“So we each got you girls’ gifts, nothing much,” Calum said
“You didn’t need to get us anything,” Abbey said
“I agree,” I said
“Well we did, but I will start,” Calum said rustling through the bag I hadn’t realised they bought in.
He handed me and Abbey a gift bag and waited for us to open them. Abbey told me to open mine first. Inside the bag was a framed photo of Calum and I, which I always secretly thought was the best one of us. I put in back in the bag and got out the small stuffed dog.
“Thank you Calum!” I said getting up from my chair and walking around to give him a hug.
I returned to my seat and watched as Abbey opened her bag to reveal a black, baggy top with ‘To Write Love On Her Arms’ written on it.
“Calum, thank you so much!” she said getting up to give him a hug.
“I’m next,” Ashton said handing us both a gift bag.
Abbey made sure I opened mine first and I revealed a top with mickey mouse neatly printed on the front.
“This is so cute, thank you Ashton!” I said giving him a hug.
Abbey opened hers and revealed a small bottle of perfume and a CD entitled ‘Songs we both enjoy’.
“Ash, thank you so much,” she said giving him a lingering hug.
“Me next, I guess,” Michael said getting out the bags and handing them over.
I opened mine first because I was sensing a pattern. I picked up two separate phone cases, one with a photo of Luke and I printed on it, and the other one was one of Simba from ‘The Lion King’
I gave him a small hug and said thank you before sitting back down to wait for Abbey to open hers. She pulled out a box, and opened it up before looking at Michael in complete awe. She picked up the small necklace and put it around her neck. She got up and walked over to Michael giving him a hug and a kiss and whispering a barely audible ‘yes’ into his ear.
Luke handed over his gift bags and I went to open mine before Abbey stopped me.
“I’ll open this one first, the best gift is saved for last,” she said looking at Luke and smiling.
She opened the bag to get two phone cases, one of her and Michael, and one that said ‘Hope it gives you hell’. She got up and gave Luke a small hug before sitting back down.
I looked down at my gift bag and Luke smiled at me before I opened it up. I pulled out a small box and opened it to reveal a hexagon shaped Pandora charm with an anchor on each face. I gave Luke a kiss and sat back at my seat again before we all continued to eat our dinner.
“So why’d you say yes to Michael?” I asked Abbey after a few minutes
“He asked me to be his girlfriend again,”
