5:02AM. That was the time when the loud booming sound roared from outside the apartment. I jolted up from my sleeping position and groggily left my bed to find Daniel. He was no where to be found. Frustrated from the loud noises, I picked up a jacket before leaving the apartment. I walked towards the sound of the noise and began to hit the door opposite Daniel's apartment with all my might. No response.

Groaning I began to kick, hoping the door would break down or something. Apparently these doors were made of steel though as my strong kicks did not do anything. The song was nearing it's ending though and hence was beginning to become quieter and quieter. I took this as my chance to knock as loud as I possibly could. I heard some shuffling from behind the door and moments later the door opened to reveal a very dishevelled shirtless guy.

"Uh hello?" he sheepishly asked as he looked me up and down. He checked his watch for the time before narrowing his eyes in on me.

"What? Are you seriously surprised that there's someone banging on your door this early in the morning?"

He shifted from one foot to the other before turning his confused eyes up to meet mine.

"How many I help you?" he asked, his voice laced with confusion.

"Turn the bloody music down. It freaking gave me a panic attack!"

"The music?" he asked as he turned his back to me to look at his stereo. "You heard that?"

"You're joking right?" I scoffed. "I'm pretty sure you woke up the whole entire complex."

"Oh," he said as he pressed his lips together, "I thought these doors were sound proof."

"Well they're clearly not so shut it!"

With that said, I bolted back to my room and let sleep consume me. Of course it didn't last long because within an hour my alarm went off, forcing me out of the warmth of my covers and into the freezing cold air of the apartment.

It took me about an hour to get ready and just as I picked my bag to leave for school, the door bell rang. I'm generally not a very religious person, but I prayed that it would not be my monster-in-law. Considering no one else really visits, I didn't have high hopes.

But I was wrong and my prayer was accepted. I opened the door and came face to face with the person who was blaring his music super loud a couple of hours ago.

He sent me a toothy grin before walking past me and into the apartment.

"Come on in," I sarcastically said before closing the door and turning to him.

"I'm Lucas," he grinned before he turned back to face me and handed me what seemed like a cake box, "your new neighbour."

"Okay."

"I just wanted to apologise for this morning. My manager told me the apartment was sound-proof so I played my music without thinking much."

"Okay," I repeated.

"Do you live alone?"

"Well if you'd excuse me, I have places to be," I said as I opened the front door and waited for him to lave. I put the box down before following suit.

"Are you a student?" he asked as he took in my appearance before landing on my back pack.

"Yes."

"Cool! What are you studying?"

I turned to him with the harshest glare I could muster but apparently it didn't bother him one bit. He continued to look at me with his toothy grin as he awaited an answer.

"Literature," I answered, not really sure why I felt compelled to answer him. I could have just walked away yet for some strange reason, I felt guilty

"My father is a literature professor," he grinned. "Maybe I could help you out sometime," he winked. I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about but I didn't even have time to reply because just as I was about to open my mouth to answer him, the elevator doors opened and Daniel walked out looking like a billion dollars.

I was about to ask him why he was dressed so formally but the look on his face made all the words die down in my throat. He literally looked like he could kill at any given moment.

"Did my mother send you as well?" he spat. I tilted my head to the side feeling confused. It didn't take long for everything to register because not even a minute later, Lucas spoke.

"Daniel," he said with a grin on his face, "long time no see."

Daniel did not seem happy with that reply and the look on his face made it more than obvious how much he hated it.

"I haven't had contact with your family for years," Lucas sighed. "This is all a coincidence," he said as he waved at the air in between him and Daniel.

"I sure hope so," Daniel spat out before walking in the open apartment door.

Lucas's grin dropped for the first time as he turned from Daniel to me.

"Wait, you live with him?" he asked as he pointed to Daniel.

"She's my wife," Daniel said, not bothering to turn to us as he went through his bag as if he was looking for something.

"Wife? You look so young?" he gasped as he looked me up and down once again. "How long have you been married for?"

This did cause Daniel to turn to us.

"That is none of your business," he said as he took my hand and lead me towards thee apartment. "I would appreciate it if you didn't speak to my wife."

And with that said he closed the door, blocking my view of Lucas.

"How do you know him?" I asked.

Daniel seemed like he wasn't going to answer at first but to my surprise, he did.

"He's the one Juliette cheated on me with. My old best friend."

My eyes widened and an involuntary gasp escaped my lips.

Daniel chuckled before walking towards his room. I followed suit.

"Honestly, I don't care anymore. I'd have to feel something for them to feel angry but I have no feelings whatsoever left. So I just don't care."

In all honesty, that seemed like a lie to me but I didn't bother pressing on the matter. I guess that was what he wanted to believe and the issue had nothing to do with me so I had no right to speak either way.

"Where were you this morning?" I asked. "I woke up around 5 but you were no where to be seen and you're only coming home now..."

Daniel suppressed a smile as he turned to me with a goofy look on his face, "Were you worried about me?"

I let out a huff and rolled my eyes, "I was just curious."

"If you say so," he chuckled. "My father wanted to meet at the company for an early check up of the depots. I'm officially starting work tomorrow so I'm back now," he explained anyway.

"Well  I have school so I'll be leaving now," I told him before bee-lining to the front door.

"Isabella," Daniel suddenly called out. I turned and saw that he was literally only a couple of feet away from me. He looked down at his hands before looking up at me through his lashes. "Please refrain from having any contact with Lucas," he said in an almost whisper.

"Alright," I said without a second thought.
