The Swan

Technophaegia

                                     Once,

                                    I saw a

                    Swan.  Quite rare

                                   Indeed

                                      Was

                                       She,

                                      With

                                      Black

Spots       where snow white fluffy feathers

Should     be.   Her feathers also had a yellow

Shade,     plain was she compared to snow white

Swans that glided about as perfect as perfection

Could be.  So different did she look!  One would

Most certainly mistake her as a simple duck.

Yet there was something unmistakable in

Her  steady look.  It spoke of more than

Superficial  looks.  It spoke of storms endured and fought.  It spoke of survival in

Seas distraught.  It spoke of cold nights,

In winters past.  It spoke of dearth in hard,

Hard times.  And for this she was thus shunned,

An outcast among the perfect swans.  They pecked

And thrust her fragile side.  Until forced was she to take

To flight,      among the vast beyond, long waited I to

See her    gliding slowly by that crystal pond.

Long       pondered I, why so enticed?

                                     And

                                       Then I

                                       Found

                                         Her

                                        Eyes

                      Held a reflection

                                    Similar to

                                       Mine.
