It was Saturday. Daniel was at the company with his father and I was at his family home, with his mother and a bunch of her high class friends.

"I cannot believe Daniel is married," one of her friends' cooed as she gave my thigh a soft squeeze. "I have known him since he was in his diapers," she laughed. "I didn't think he'd be so mature and marry early."

Mrs. Sage laughed at her friend's words before taking a sip of her tea.

"She's so beautiful," one of her other friend's said and she gave my hair a light touch. "Where did he find such a beautiful girl?"

The women all nodded as they giggled. Honestly, the fact that they were talking about me as if I wasn't there right in front of them was beginning to get creepy but at the same time, Mrs. Sages reactions to all of the compliments thrown my way were too good to pass up. So instead of finding a way to run away from the gossipy housewives, I just sat there and sweetly smiled up at everyone as they flattered me with compliments. Fake or sincere, I did not know but I couldn't care less either way.

But of course, it didn't last long. One of the house maids suddenly walked in to the lounge with Juliette hot on her heels.

"Juliette," Mrs. Sage grinned as she stood up and greeted the young lady who was once again dressed up as some sort of fairy princess. "What a pleasant surprise!"

Soon after the rest of the women all stood up and greeted Juliette as well, looking genuinely happy to see her.

"When did you return?" one of the ladies asked as she pulled Juliette to sit beside her.

"A couple of weeks ago," she said with a sweet smile. "I am so sorry for not visiting all of you earlier. I have been so busy with the company that I haven't had a chance to sit down at all."

"We understand. We just missed you!"

"I missed you all, too. As soon as I heard you were all gathering, I left everything and came."

The ladies all cooed before they began to converse about this and that, completely forgetting about my existence.

"Oh," suddenly the woman beside me said, "have you met Isabella? She is Daniel's wife."

The whole room went silent and their eyes widened. Some looked like they wanted to kill the woman beside me, others looked like they were holding in their breath and other were others simply were expressionless.
