Another headache plague King Carlyle's day. He massaged his forehead trying to alleviate the pain while all around him his council argued about another tax reform bill. They cannot push the people to pay more, they all were just coping from the previous attack from the enemy kingdom.

"Stop." he commanded with finality. "We do not raise the taxes of our people. We need to come to a decision on how to improve our market and trade. Then we should also focus in our mining to produce more gold. Now if you have no further suggestions, then this assembly is dismissed." he stood up willing for the room to stop shifting under his feet.

"Your highness are you alright, youre a bit pale. Should i call the royal physician?"

"No need. I am headed that way."

"Do you need an escort?"

"Call Anthony, I have need of him."
"Yes, your highness."

He heard a child's gleeful laugh before he entered her medical quarters. He knew how the children adores Mari, wherever she goes children flocks her and asks her to do magic. She showed them often magic tricks and he cant help but be fascinated with it as well. Naturally people gossip about her. Why she hid her face in a mask or vail. Why her skin is all covered. How she seemed so eerie, and mysterious. People were intrigued by her but at the same time they treat her well because despite the knowledge of gossip Mari remained good in nature.

He looked inside and saw two children a boy and a girl sitting on  still a little far from her experiment table. She demonstrate of pouring liquid in her Petri dish, then she snap her finger and magically the solution burst in flames and erupted into a beautiful butterfly smoke flapping its colorful wings.

"Mari do it again. This time I want a dragon." The little boy said. He was the marquee's son.

"No I want a swan." His sister argued.

"Now,now kids we can do this again some other time. The King is waiting for his turn. You don't want our beloved king waiting don't you?"

It was both surprising and chilling when she does that, knowing that he was there no matter how silent and stealthy he tried to sneak up she would always know where he is.

"You can continue while I watch" he said entering the room, going for the comfortable bed.

"Children. The king needs his rest, move along."

The children pouted but bowed to the king and went out of the infirmary running to their friends telling about the magic show.

"Is your headache still there?"she asked gently. Sitting on the bed, she gently push his hair aside and palmed his forehead.

He nodded. Liking the warmth her hands brought him. He permitted her to call him informally, she was the only one who was brave enough to address him as a friend than a king. And he liked it. He tried opening his eyes but found himself unable. Her hand on him was a huge relief as it always is in the past month she has been his nurse.

"My king, this headache has been prevalent for the past week. I have given you medicine for head ache and fever. Bit it keeps coming back. You look paler now. Do you feel hot."

"No, the opposite. As if my insides are frozen."

"Your burning a fever. Does you eyes hurt with the light?"

"Not so much but yes it began yesterday."

"My first thought was right. My king, I think you were poisoned."

"What?" He asked weakly.

"I've seen this symptoms before. The poison targets the immune system first. Then blood clotting or excessive bleeding follows. It will destroy you slowly inside out."

"Who could have sneak in poison in my cup I have testers before I eat."

"It's simple they don't have to put it in the liquid or the rim of the cup. They smear it on the handle and when you eat food from your hands you ingest the poison. It is not fast acting but when the fever has gone high it is strong enough to kill someone within two days." She said calmly stroking his hair. Her soothing voice pushed the panic away. He might die but she was weaving her calming magic on him.

"Do not worry my king. I will never let you die. Trust me." She whispered at his ear. "I will protect you from this, promise."

Strangely he always knew what she said will be. That's how reassuring and capable she is. He would trust her his life because he knew she will keep her promise. For some unknown reason he did trust her that much.

"I trust you. Don't let anyone know about this."

"Then let go." Her voice was a spell that lull him deeper into sleep.

Amarilys remove her gloves her markings glowing and lifted her Vail, her strange eyes looking right through him. She ran her naked hands over the king's clammy chest. Feeling the progression of the harmful toxin, her eyes see through skin watching his internal organs, making sure nothing was permanently damaged.

She sighed in relief when nothing was wrong with them yet. No bleeding but the poison was already attacking them. She stilled herself, pushing her power into his. The white light was pushing the toxins put of his blood streams and out of his pores. Sweat and green liquid drenched King Carlyle's clothes and bed sheet but she continued until every drop was out of his system.

She checked again. When she was certain she opened his mouth slightly then fusing their mouth. She pushed her tongue and with it the chemicals needed to boost his immune system. She did not expect him to respond though.

Carlyle loved the feel of those lips on him. Her warm tongue tasted so sweet. His tongue tasted her pushing into her mouth. He groaned wanting more. He reversed their position, putting her beneath him. Loving her soft curves on his hard body. He clutched her neck angling his face deepening the kiss.

"You tasted so good." He husked on her lips. Biting them then sucking them in. Their wet kissing began all over again. When he came up for air, he pry his eyes open and sucked in a breath for a different reason. His eyes glued on her own. It was like the ocean and the sky looking at him. He felt like his world was tilting ones again unable to stray his eyes from hers. She reached for him, her warm hands covering his eyes.

Her lips met his again with a tender kiss.

"Forget, my love. Forget what you saw. Forget this moment." Again her voice was a compulsion and he cannot fight it.

A tear ran down Mari's cheeks she grew to love this man who was intended for her sister. This man who was tied to his country who saw her as nothing more but a nurse. She love this man. But they cannot be.

She was also bound by her duty. To him, to her other family. To both worlds. She was not destined to love anyone but her profession and her duty.

She kissed him one last time. Putting her vail and gloves back on she searched for her sister. She cannot tamper her sister's chance at marriage and happiness.

It may hurt but she was destined to be alone.
