"Gather the children! Don't get them too young though! Ages seven through twelve! Go!" A voice yelled in a language other than any known to Earth. People rushed around, trying to find their children, spouses, and other family members.

"There are only seven!" Someone yelled. The initial speaker stepped closer the other person.

"Get one slightly younger than! How are we missing five? We need an even number so they can reproduce!" He yelled. A woman came running up, carrying a young girl in her arms.

"Please, sir, I heard you needed another child. Please take my daughter." The woman was close to tears. The man looked at the young girl.

"We do need a girl. How old is she?"

"Five, sir." The man shook his head a bit.

"Too young. She won't adapt well. She could easily die."

"Please, take her anyway! I would rather have her die after trying to save her then keep her here and have her die when we knew there was a chance to prevent it." He nodded and took the girl. A young boy walked up to him. He was older than the girl, and looked older than he was, but so did the rest of the people on this planet.

"Sir, may I please take her?" The boy said. He set the girl down, as she was old enough to walk, and the young boy took her hand.

"Where are we going?" She asked. The boy kneeled down so he was a bit shorter than her.

"I don't know, but it will be a dangerous journey. Stay with me during it, okay?" He said, and the girl nodded. He stood up and took her by the hand again. They walked until they reached a group of children.

"Why do you have her! She is much too young!" A woman said. The boy lets go of the girl's hand and whispered something in her ear. She nodded.

"We needed one more, and her mother was able to convince our Leader." He said. The woman just shook her head and motioned for the children to follow her. The boy took the girls hand again before they walked with everyone else.

After a while, they came upon the most beautiful ship that could be imagined. It was an amazing light gray that looked like the most amazing silver ever found, it had beautiful blue accents, and it was so clean you could see the chaos behind it and the little area of peace that was here.

"In, in, everyone in! Make sure you stay by your protector!" The woman yelled. They started filing in, but at the last second the girl pulled the boy's arm before he could go in.

"I don't have a protector yet!" She said to him. He ran up to the woman.

"She needs a protector!" He called out.

"Who?" The woman asked.

"I don't know her name, but the young one. She is only five!" The woman nodded and ran out with him. She motioned for him to stop with the girl, and she kept on running, with unbelievable speed. When she came back, there was a man with her. All four of them ran into the ship.

"Where were you? We were about to leave and we saw you running out?" Someone, probably the pilot asked the woman.

"We have someone that didn't have a protector yet." She motioned the girl. "Oh, and what are your names? When you were coming over, I was able to talk to the other people coming, but not you guys."

"Toffee." The girl said.

"Flames." The boy said. Your names here were based on your first word, so even here, those were both unusual names.

"Interesting. Flames, your protector is already here, because you said you would be right behind him. But then when he looked back he saw you with Toffee, so he kept going because he knew you would be fine." Flames nodded and they continued walking.

They walked over to a group of beds and sat on them and talked. Then there was a loud noise, a jerk, and four people screamed out. Flames and Toffee looked at each other.

"Flames, what was that?" Toffee asked.

"We left our atmosphere. I have to go see someone." He said before running off. Toffee followed, but she was four years younger, and her smaller legs couldn't keep up.

"Hello? Hello? Are you okay? Hello?" Flames cried out. He didn't see who he was looking for but saw a group of people talking.

"We were already behind, and know we lost three of them! And what are we going to do with Flames? He can't be on his own, he is too young. Why? Normally adults don't die! How are we going to tell Flames that Hello died." Flames took a few steps back. Until you reached seventeen, you had to have your protector with you at all times, but his had died as they left the atmosphere.

Flames walked into the room. The people gave a slight gasp as they saw him, surprised. Just then Toffee came running around a corner and skidded to a stop in front of the doorway. She walked in and grabbed Flames' hand. He looked at her and nodded his thanks.

"That's it! Flames did you hear what we were talking about?" He nodded. The person continued. "Flames, when we get where we are going, would you be okay with staying with Toffee?" Flames perked up a bit and nodded.

"Great. Now get ready for a long ride. This might take a bit."

HI! I know, I know, I said I wouldn't make any new stories. But, I have a reason. This story I have been writing for a while, and I go on when I can't go on Watt pad*cough* school *cough* . So, I already have the first five chapters, plus the prologue, and I work on it pretty regularly. I try very hard to update my books, but writers block is not something you can just write through, at least not easily. Please forgive me for lying. ~HP
