it was so lovely. the chirping of bright feathered birds, the chatter of common people, and the sun beating down on their skin as they hurry away to their shops in hopes of keeping their business alive. their hard work hopefully paying off. following the orders of the kingdom officials. that's all they did. order people around, as if being a part of the kingdom made them feel superior. though, the kingdom was what everyone wished to be a part of, and they were. it was beautiful, with the people being beautiful as well. the castle was marvelous, overlooking the city of light.

the castle was told to be one of the most peaceful and nurtured, always listening to the problems of the common people, helping in any way they can. perfect, one would even say. but, they were anything but perfect. every perfect family has their secrets. their secrets were something to stay within the castle. as they all say, no one is perfect, but one begs to differ.

min yoongi.

or prince yoongi.

he had everything and was everything. his porcelain skin was delicate and untainted. his lips were a pretty pink, shaped for anyone to kiss. he was very small too, in size and height. his heart was one of a kind, so easy to bend and break. he had the innocence of a lamb and the mind of a cheetah, thoughts always coming in and out of him. he was so precious to the royal family that he had been kept a secret. they had kept him hidden in fear of an outside force breaking and ruining him. after all, common people were common people. they wanted to protect him as much as they could, not wanting their son to become like them.

prince yoongi would always go out into the garden and play with the birds who he calls his friends. he never wastes a waking moment of his life as he wanted to fulfil it as much as his little heart could.  but, farther out into the garden was a fence, and behind the fence was a dark, mysterious forest holding all kinds of magic. his parents had told him scary stories of the forest in hopes of stopping him from venturing into them. his parents knew how curious he could be and this was the kind of curiosity they feared. yoongi was so isolated from the world he wanted to go out and get a taste of what it felt like to be unhidden and free. hell, the garden wasn't even outside much, the walls were shaded dark so that any chance of him seeing outside would be small.

they always said they wanted what was best for him but he thinks otherwise. he thinks that they don't want him to have a life of his own and that he must stay locked away in the castle because he's too "weak" for the outside world. he felt old enough to at least get a glimpse of the sky. the civilians didn't even know they had a prince among them! the least they could do is let him name go public, he felt they were ashamed of him.

he sat in his room, sulking, staring out his boarded windows which were of the finest trees. they were a royal family after all. the boards covered every window in his room neatly and not as if they were in the apocalypse. he always had the strong urge to tear the boards down and runaway , get some fresh air. he wanted to breathe something that wasn't castle air. he wanted to meet merchants and buy little trinkets. he wanted to go to a bakery and eat a pile of dough (though the chances of him getting sick would be likely, not like he cared anyway). he just wanted something to free him of his sadness. he didn't want to be hidden from the world. he wanted everyone, even the animals to know his name.

so, that friday night, his grand plan had soon to come to life. he decided that tomorrow night, he would sneak out and take the city as his own.

///

morning came and so did yoongi's sadness. but, he knew he wouldn't be sad any longer, for he will get out of this damned castle and never come back. he was ready to see the world he will call his one day.

he went downstairs to eat his breakfast. one thing he'll miss is the food, the chefs were his favorite people since they always told him stories of the world he wished to be a part of and the food it had to offer, which they said was even better than what they serve in the castle which surprised yoongi because he never thought anyone could cook as good as they could. they spoke about the people they have met and what they were like. yoongi had always had a soft spot for people not of his rank. he wanted them to live to their fullest, despite him not living to his fullest as well. he was glad they had a better life than him, although he was royalty. chef jin was his all-time favorite. the food he cooked was phenomenal and out-of-this-world. jin was always there for him when he felt down. he couldn't have asked for anyone else and wouldn't want to even if he could.

"yoongi, dear. what's got my little prince all smiley today?" queen min asked him in her usual sing-song voice.

"oh, nothing, mother." yoongi replied, trying to stop himself from giving away too much. he was far too excited. he was finally going to leave the place, but on his own, sadly.

"son, we'd like to tell you something, we ask you listen carefully." king min said in a worried tone.

king min looked at his wife with concerned eyes, and she nodded encouragingly with a soft smile.

"well, what is it father, that could make you seem so unsteady?" yoongi always had a sharp eye and could easily tell what a person was feeling, it was his special talent.

"we have decided, after a long talk, to finally let you," king min paused, bracing himself for what he was about to say.

"go outside." he finished, and yoongi almost jumped out of his seat. just a day ago he was planning on his escape and now they're letting him do what he's been wanting to do for so long!

yoongi rushed out of his seat, chair falling in the process with a loud thud and hugged his mother and father tightly. they chuckled, glad to see their son finally happy. they knew the risk, but keeping yoongi locked up wasn't healthy.

"but, we won't let you go alone. we know how much you favor jin, so we'll have him accompany you." his mother spoke up in midst of them being choked to death because of yoongi's undying happiness.

"thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!" yoongi couldn't say anything else as his mind was bogged with joy.

"since, you're birthday is coming up in a week, we've decided this as your birthday present. our son's happiness is our greatest gift, and it should be yours as well."

yoongi was so overjoyed that he went around the castle and told everyone the great news, smiling for the first time. everyone was just as happy as he was, his gummy smile not failing to drop them to the floor. he was giggling nonstop, spinning throughout the hallways with his arms spread wide. in just a week, he will step foot out of the castle which held him captive. nothing could get better than this.

yoongi was ready to become a part of his kingdom.
