Charles' P.O.V

On one knee, I bow before Henry after three weeks of being away from court. "Rise, your grace." I dare to stare upon his, which darkens when our eyes meet. Henry stands from his throne. "You have a busy man Charles. Protecting my kingdom. Tending to your family and conflicts of the state. I do not know how you have time to seduce and beguile the mother of my child into falling for you." His words gain the attetion of the Lords of Veil witnessing my welcome back to court, including Anne's father. I step forward and open my mouth to explain, but Henry stops me. "No explanation needed Charles. I know Anne is a very unique woman and she is very hard to resist. Her wit is compelling. Her eyes are dark hook that pull you in. And her foreign beauty makes her stand out from the average English woman. Do you not agree?" I raise my head. "Yes, your majesty." He pats back. "Problem is Anne is a special woman. She is a former Queen of English, mother of the Princess Royal and she one of the highest peers in England." Henry stalks over near my ear and begins to whisper. "But most importantly she is mine, and mine alone."

The Lords begin to glance between each other, hearing the possesiveness in the King's voice. "Henry, Anne is not a piece of property you may use whenever you feel like. She is woman and a mother. She deserves someone who is free to love her and her children, without the stress of living up to royal expectations." I feel Henry stop in front of me, grab my shirt and lift from my kneeling postion. "You have overstepped greatly, Charles. You will stay away from her." I shake my head. "I will leave that decision for her to make." Henry gets in my face. "She carries my child within her. She is in no position to make such a decision." Losing all care, I staredown my closest friend. "You will take her children from her? Is that how you treat the woman you claim to be the love of your life. Henry, you have a wife who loves you. Jane is carrying your child, the long awaited heir. Why can't you be happy with what you have?"

Henry's P.O.V
As Charles' rants on I look over to Anne's father. He gives me a disapprovaling expression. I know deep inside Anne's father cared for his children. I does not like how I treat his youngest daughter. I know makes Charles makes good points, but I will not relent. Anne is mine alone to love. If I don't fight for her, I do not deserve her. In this moment, I can respect Charles for fighting for her as well. I back away from him and place my hand out. He gives me a shocking expression. "I respect how you fight for her Charles. And I want her to be happy." He slightly grins and accepts my handshake. Before he removes his hand from mine, I tug him forward. "However, I also believe I am the one who can make her happy. So I accept your challenge to allow her to chose." He shakes my hand once more, before pulling away.

"He's agreed to what?" Lady Cowell reads the letter from my father once more. "He writes that Lord Suffolk and His Majesty are now in a battle for your affections, your grace." I groan as the child within me shifts it's position once more. "Right, so I will have to choose between them." Lady Cowell nods. My newest Lady, my cousin, Katherine or Kitty sits besides me. "Your Grace, forgive my curiosity, but who will you choose. Do you not love them both?" I smile down at Kitty. I mentally thank God that I was able to save her from being to that horrid group home for girls. Now Kitty's innocence will remain intact, until she comes of age. "Yes, I do." Lady Treman steps back over to finish my examination. "Madame, although you are very wise, your age is starting to show." I furrow my brows. "You may love them both, true. However, I argue you love one more than the other." I agree with her words as they sink deep into my mind. Now the only question is which one?
