That I'm not sure how any of us made it back from
Before having dance parties
Instead of making dinner
Before almost stealing all those dogs we saw
And having to be pulled away before we actually did
Before saving all our extra money
Just so we could go to concerts
Before random road trips we took
Just to avoid our responsibilities
Before experiencing devastating loss
And inconceivable joy
Before life
Now
I look in the mirror
And I know that woman
I know those eyes
And those scars
I know her journey
It was mine
