To Protect and Cherish (Yona of the Dawn Fanfiction)

What started out as any normal day would, ended in sheer terror for Yona. She was headed to her father's room to tell him how she was going to be with Soo-won. She didn't care if he forbid it. She loved him. As she walked to his door and opened it, she saw the person she loved the most kill her father in cold blood. It was Soo-won, who stood there with a sword that was covered in blood. She dropped to the floor and screamed. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. How could Soo-won do such a thing? 

"Since you are a witness Princess, I have no choice but to kill you also." Soo-won said cold heartedly. Yona felt paralyzed. She was so afraid and she didn't know where Hak was. She finally got the courage to get up and run out of the room, only to be chased by all the guards at the castle. She got a few ways across the yard, and one of the guards threw a chain that wrapped around her ankle causing her to fall. 

"Ah!" She screamed. She turned around and watched as the guards were coming closer to her. They were everywhere and she knew she was going to die. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind appeared and caused all the guards to fly back. Yona looked around only to see Hak saving her life. 

"Hak!" She cried. He quickly picked her up and they fled. It took awhile, and with help of a friend in the castle who sacrificed himself for the Princess, they were able to get away. Hak knew of only one place they could go, and that was the Wind Tribe's place. 

After a few days of traveling and avoiding the Fire Tribe's clan, they made it to the Wind Tribe's land. Mundok, who adopted Hak, was very happy to see them. Of course, Hak told him everything that happened and how Soo-won was trying to take the Kings place. Mundok was not going to have that. He would surely disapproved. 

Unfortunately, since he disapproved, many things started to happen. Their water source was blocked, clan members were attacked, and the medicine boy was attacked which prevented them getting his brother's medicine. 

"Mundok, you must approve him becoming King, even if it makes me look guilty of what they're saying. As long as you all know that I was not the one that killed the King, that is all that matters to me." Hak told Mundok. Mundok really didn't want to do it, but he saw how serious Hak was about it, so he decided he would. 

"I am leaving tomorrow. I know they'll come here trying to look for me."

"Hak, you and Yona need to find the oracle. Once you find him, he will give you information on what you need to do." Hak stared at Mundok, thinking on how silly he sounded, but he knew that Mundok wouldn't say it for nothing. 

The next day, Yona and Hak got all of their stuff together and headed to find the oracle. 

"How do we find him? How will we know who he is?" Yona questioned. 

"I don't know. We will find out when we get there I suppose." Hak responded. As they were walking, Hak started to hear a bunch of footsteps. He grabbed his weapon and got into a fighting stance. Before them, was the fire tribe. They began shooting arrows at them. Hak swung his weapon and avoided all the arrows. The guards began to run after them. Hak needed to get Yona to safety so that she wouldn't get hurt. He grabbed her and began to run away.

"Dont't let them get away!" The leader yelled. The Fire Tribe chased them and shot more arrows at them. Hak was strong and used his weapon to cut through all of them. Yona was in awe on how strong he was. It was hard to keep up with him.

"Shoot the princess!" One of the men yelled. The arrow was going right for Yona but Hak stepped in front of her to block her from being hit. It shot right through his back. 

"Hak!" she yelled. He pulled the arrow out and grabbed Yona and jumped in the air to get away from them. They were able to get away for a little bit, but Hak knew that it wouldn't be long till they were found.
