I believe we have a choice in this world, even if the world isn't a wish-granting factory. Let me introduce myself, My name is Helena Rose Parker. My life is pretty normal. I have my mother and father and little sister. I don't speak much. I feel as if I am hated, and I do not know why.
I stretch and get out of my bed, looking at the time on the cute digital clock on the nightstand next to my bed. The clock read 8:52am. I decided I would head out to a small cafe near town to read a book and get away from my house a while.
Throwing on a simple pair of jeans and a lavender blouse, I walk downstairs. After brushing my teeth, of course.
Hanging on a dinner chair, was my black sweater. I threw it on, simply letting my black hair fall into their normal shoulder-length waves. I slipped on some red Chuck-Taylor's and grabbed my favorite book, 'An Imperial Affliction'. Walking out of the house, I began the three-block walk to a nearby coffee shop.
The small cafe came into my sight, the clear windows showing it wasn't too busy. I opened the front door, a small bell ringing. Walking up to register, I ordered a hot chocolate. After it was put together, I took the drink in my right hand, and my book in the left.
I took a seat in a two-seated table, putting my feet up on the seat opposite of where I was sitting. I opened my book to page Three-Seventy-Six, where I had originally left off since last night. My chocolate brown eyes scanned each word carefully, kind of taking in the beautiful writing.
"You like 'An Imperial Affliction'?" Someone said from beside me.
Looking up, I saw a girl with a pageboy haircut, a blue shirt and some jeans. Oh, and she hand some nubbins in her nose that connected to her cannula. I smiled, looking into her green-brown eyes. I nodded.
"Uh, yeah, I think the story is just magnificent." I said through a large smile. I had never met anybody that liked An Imperial Affliction, and it made me happy that I finally did. She smiled down, looking over to the empty seat infront of me.
"Mind of I sit?" She asked, and my happiness just brightened. I smiled, taking my feet down.
"Not at all." I said through another smile. She took a seat, putting the handle of her cannula back down, placing it next to her chair.
"So, what's your name?" I asked her, slightly curious of what the mystery-girl's name was.
"Hazel." She said. It suited her. To be honest, I thought she was gorgeous. Her lips were full, she had a cute nose and big beautiful eyes. Her personality also lit the room up.
"How about you?"
"My name is Helena." A small laugh erupted from my chest.
We talked for about 3 hours, about many, many things. We got to know eachother really well, and talked about our favorite novels, bands, etc. I gave her my number, since we kind of became best friends. Turns out she doesn't really have friends, and I don't either, and we kind of clicked when we started talking.
Pulling my phone out of my pocket, I realized it was almost 12.
"I have to go," I said, letting a small sigh escape my lips. "I'll text you. We should make plans to hang out tomorrow."
A smile grew on her face. "Yeah yeah, definitely. What time is good tomorrow? You can come over to my place." I smiled, secretly wishing it was already tomorrow. To be honest, she had became my best friend in the 3 hours we've known eachother.
"How about 1:30? And yeah, text me your address." I said, getting up and collecting my belongings.
"Sounds great." She nodded. I turned back.
"I'll see you tomorrow!" The cheerful words left me mouth, leaving a smile on her lips.
"See you tomorrow."
And that is how I became best friends with Hazel Grace Lancaster.
