Calum's P.O.V
I got dressed into my fitness uniform, walking over to the other guys where they were all dressed, Ash just pulling on his gym shirt quickly before we all walked out of the locker room. We all met in the gym where only our coaches class stood. All of us were lucky enough to get the same coach as Ash, Luke, Michael, Kat, and I all have the same gym period. Sadly, so does Holly and a few of her minions.
"Okay guys so today we are going to start a new unit, basketball!!" Our coach said, causing half the class to cheer and the other half to groan.
"Yeah yeah whatever. Now, I need everyone to pick a card from my hand when I come past you. I don't care who you show it to, just no trading" he said gruffly, going down the line of students. He got to me and I picked a random card, flipping it over to see the number 8.
"What'd you get" Luke nudged me, showing me his card. He got 13.
"8" I said, showing him my card. Ash got 9, Michael got 14, and Kat got 7.
"Okay so first I'm going to pick 2 cards. The 2 that are picked will go against each other in a one on one match in front of the class. First person to 2 points wins. Got it?" He said, hearing a chorus of 'yes sir's' echo through the gym. He picked 2 cards, looking back up at the class.
"Numbers 4 and 7" He said, smiling evilly. All of the guys looked at Kat, including me as she stood there, frozen. I wonder who 4 is.
"Come on up" he said, getting bored. Kat slowly walked up, standing next to the coach. He smirked when he saw number 4 pop up. It was Corey Fletcher, the captain of the basketball team.
"Well this is going to be easy" Corey said cockily, looking down at Kat where she stood, keeping an unemotional face.
"Okay get into position" the coach said, getting a basketball and standing in the middle of the court. They both stood face to face, waiting for the whistle. When the coach blew the whistle and threw the ball up into the air, the game started. Corey, having the height advantage, got the ball easily and shot it, the ball going perfectly through the hoop. The guys and Holly cheered while the 4 of us guys and the rest of the girls stayed silent.
"That's 1 Mute" Corey said, walking by Kat. She rolled her eyes and got the ball, dribbling across the court. Corey was about to steal it from behind when..
She tripped.
The ball went flying from her hands and Corey laughed at her, but the whole gym was silent. There were a few gasps, causing Corey to look up, confused. That's when he looked at the basketball at the perfect time, seeing it fly straight through the hoop.
The coach blew his whistle, cheering.
"And that 1 to 1!!" He said, clearly impressed.
"It was just a lucky shot" Corey scoffed, not bothering to help Kat up as she stood back up, walking to the middle of the court. The coach repeated his actions, throwing the ball up as Corey got it once again. He started dribbling it down the court but Kat easily got the ball from him and started dribbling the other way. Corey was shocked for a moment but quickly caught up with her. She blocked all of his attempts to get the ball from her, shooting it once again.
Swoosh.
The entirety of the gym, excluding Holly and Corey of course, erupted in cheering, congratulating Kat in her unexpected victory. The guys and I ran up to her, hugging her, as the basketball team patted Corey's back, but were still laughing at him.
"I did not expect that" I said in amazement. Kat looked up at me, her eyes twinkling. Ash answered for her, his eyes shining in pride.
"I taught her to play" he said, grinning goofily. I laughed, patting him on the back.
