Chapter XXVII
Annabel
Make. It. Stop. Oh, of all the gods on Olympus, I had to be a big three! Now, everywhere I go, people treat me like I'm to good for everything.
"Oh, you shouldn't use these swords. It's too sharp."
"Oh, you shouldn't pick the up that tool. You'll break a nail."
Blah, blah, freaking, blah.
When I get the chance to be alone, I often think to myself if my new brother, the high and mighty Percy Jackson, had gone through the same. Well, he isn't here, so might as well ask a tree. Nymph. Actually, that didn't seem like a bad idea....But seeing a person could be a lot easier.
I thought about people who knew him well. Of the top of my head, I recall Travis Stoll mentioning a girl who was seen as his enemy, from the Ares cabin. Her name was Crissy, Claire, or something. I would have to ask her. Great.
I opened my eyes and stared at the bunk above mine. I had recently moved from the Hermes cabin, which I had only stayed like three nights at.
That being said, I never had alot of things to settle around. On my wall were only one picture of me and my mom. I also have (our secret) a stuffed bear my mom sent me. Seeing how bare my bunk was, I decided to have a peek at Percy's.
His bunk was like a trophy hall. He had so many things. A minotaur horn, wreaths, etc. But of course, they were all thrown around, like in a boy's room.
Back to the mission at hand. I had to get all the way past the sea of demi-gods, like a Leonardo Di Capreo against paparazzi. I looked through my minuscule bag of clothes in search of a hoodie. That would cover my face. While going through my bag, I noticed the trident on my forearm. Hey. I thought, why not just have something that shows who I am?
Unfortunately, I found no hoodie. Just my luck.
I pased around the room, thinking of any possible solutions to not draw attention to myself.
Make a diversion? No that would get me in the crowd.
Ask someone to start a rumour. But that would draw unwanted attention.
What if I just go through the woods?
Actually, that sounds a lot better than the other options. Alright then, through the woods it is.
I grabbed my sword and Iris charm and made my way to the door. I crept the door open, made sure the coast was clear, snuck out, closed the door, and made a full on sprint to the forrest. When I made it to the outskirts, I drew my sword. Danger could be anywhere and I do not want to become a demi-god luncheon.
The deeper I went, the more dangerous my surroundings became. I had to watch out for dragon traps, which were a high danger risk. And then, of course, you got to watch your behind for monsters. But today, the odds were so not in my favor.
In the distance, I heard I roar of a battle cry. Then, a girl warrior jumped out of a nearby tree and landed right ontop of me. With the force of her fall, we ended up tumbling down the slanted hill.
"What the hello!"
"Watch where you're going, Prissy."
Wait. What did she just say?
"What?"
"What do you mean, what? You're his brother and you're probably just the-"
A fierce roar interrupted her.
"RUN!!" She yelled. I soon obliged.
We ran as far as we could to the edge of the forest, the monster still hot on our tails. Soon, we were only a few feet away from it and I didn't want to visit the Underworld any time soon.
I spun around.
"Face it!" I yelled the girl. She turned quickly and we lashed at it. Surprisingly, nothing was there. And then the ground opened up and out came a scorpion.
Now, I don't mean the ones you find in your shoe.
I'm talking. A huge. Six foot long. Scorpion.
It flicked its massive, poisonous tail at me. I leaped out just in time for it to stumble. I looked over at the girl and she seized the opportunity to end Scorpo's misery. She sank an electric spear blow into its back and it crumbled to dust. After she removed her spear and wiped the bug guts off, she turned to me.
"Good call, Prissy."
"Annabel" I stuck my hand out. She looked at me oddly and took it.
"Clarisse"
"Oh, so you're the mighty Ares warrior?" She gave me a flat look. Maybe she wasn't use to compliments.
"Right. So what do you want from me?"
"Well, I was wondering if-"
"Annabel." From behind a bush came Junashri's voice. She emerged and my jaw droped. Her eyes were swollen and her breath was hitched.
"Junashri. What's wrong?" My eyes filled with worry.
"It's Randy. He's dying."
