Long ago, there were two mighty kingdoms. One was the kingdom of humans, and the other was the kingdom of monsters. One day though, both of the kings had gotten into a fight about land and which kingdom should have what. The human king said his people needed the land so they could build more houses to gain more profit. The monster king said his people needed the land so that they could make farms to grow more food. Most people agreed that the monsters should get the land seeing as they needed it for food and the human king only wanted money. In a fit of rage the human king waged war against the monsters, threatening to throw every last one of them into the mountain.
After nearly a year has gone by, the humans were winning, but it did not feel like a victory. Many lives were lost, many monsters turned into dust. The human king was starting to feel a deep heartache. He had never meant for it to go this far. He consulted his queen about what she thinks he should do. The queen, who hated war, had been waiting for this moment for a long time. So the king and queen of the humans decided to make a plan that the monsters simply could not refuse.
You see the queens of both lands were very good friends and both very kind hearted. The human queen knew that her friend would hear the plan and agree, for you see that had talked about it many times before.
The next day came and the King and Queen along with several guards rode to the monster kingdom to discuss the fate of both kingdoms. On their journey they had to go around many surrounding battles that were taking place between the kingdoms. Unfortunately when passing through one of these battles, the king was shot by magic and had to be rushed to the nearest healer. The queen however, did not let this stop her from continuing her journey, but instead was filled with determination and took one of the horses from their wagon and rode into the kingdom of monsters and into the castle where she and the monster king and queen would have their meeting.
The human queen looked crazed riding into a castle upon a horse alone. Which is probably why the knights guarding the castle "escorted" her to the king and queen.
Queen Toriel was the first to notice who the guards were holding and her face lit up and she told the guards to release the human queen.
"It's been so long since I've seen your face, dear! How are you? Is everything alright? You look famished, let me bring you some p-"
"Toriel!" The human queen - we shall call her kindness for now- interjected.
"Y-yes dear?" Toriel asked, stunned at how her friend yelled.
"I haven't got much time, my husband was injured on the way hear and I must speak with you and yours as soon as possible." Kindness explained. Toriel looked at her husband Asgore and they gave each other a knowing look. Soon they were all teleported into a special room in the castle that was used for meetings such as these
It was a few hours later, the royalty were still discussing a few technicalities of the plan when a human guard came into the room. Kindness knew him well, had watched him come so far since he was a tot. The bad part about knowing him so well is that she also knew what his faces meant. He sported knit brows and eyes that were almost closed, looking at the floor as if to avert her gaze. Something was not alright.
"M-My queen.." He stuttered
"What is it?" Kindness said as soft as she could.
"I'm.. I'm afraid the king did not make it.. The healers were unable to fix the damage that the magic from the battle had caused... I am terribly sorry.." The guard bowed deeply to his queen and then left.
Kindness, who had been keeping her composure up until the knight left, broke down as soon as the door was shut.
"Oh no! I am so incredibly sorry my friend, I know there is nothing I could say that could possibly make you feel better in this time, but I am here for you if you need a shoulder to cry on." Queen Toriel said.
Kindness couldn't muster up the words to thank her friend, but instead hugged her tightly. After a few moments, kindness could at least speak.
"Th-th-thank you, many friend. I-I must g-go and tell my ch-children.." Kindness was about to leave, but Toriel embraced her once more before she left.
"Remember you always have a friend here." Toriel whispered after she released her.
Kindness smiled at her and then quickly ran to her horse and went back to her land.
"Asgore?" Toriel knew he was hurting.
"Yeah Tori?" He asked
"How are you holding up? I know he used to be your closest friend when you both were young.." She tried to say as gently as possible.
"I'm just in shock at the moment, Tori, I didn't know that war would do this, I didn't know that this would happen. I'm so sorry, Tori, this is all my fault isn't it?" Asgore asked with tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
"What? That is absolutely absurd! Of course this is not your fault, Gorey! This is just something that happens, it is a side effect of war. It is nobody's fault. Don't ever think like that again Gorey." Toriel was surprised he would even ask that.
"Yes... You're right Tori... Thank you.." Asgore walked over and gave his queen a kiss and then said
"I suppose I'll go tell Asriel what's happened."
"I will come too, he needs both of us for this.." Toriel calmly stated.
Asgore only gave her a loving smile and walked towards their sons room.
What they tell him will change the life of all monsters and humans alike forever.A/N ----
