"Let's go dessa!"
Yelled Odessa's mom, trying to get her to hurry up and get out of the house."I know! I'm trying! Toby won't get into his crate!!"
Odessa yelled back, attempting to put her dog to by into his crate."Are you excited to see oma!?" Asked Odessa's mom.
"Super!"Oma was Odessa's grandma. Her grandma was her best friend and have so many amazing memories. Like the time they when to Australia together and almost got lost in the city. Or that time when they went scuba diving in Mexico.
"How long does it take to get to the airport?" Asked Odessa not able to hold her excitement in.
"Just about half an hour."
"Ugh! I can't wait that long!"Odessa's Oma lives in Florida and Dessa lives in California. They have wait half a year to see each other and both where very anxious to see one another.
It was about 8:00 A.M. because Odessa begged Oma to get the early flight.
BUUUZZZZ
That was her mom accidentally hitting the lines on the street telling her to wake up. I know what your thinking... 'you shouldn't be driving if your that tired!' well... Odessa's mom was a pretty good driver and Dessa would never not trust her mom handling her life ( I mean... She did give birth to her!).
~HALF AN HOUR LATER~
Odessa was peering out the window of the car looking for her Oma axiousily.
Odessa suddenly rushed out the car door.
"OMA OMA!!!! Your here!!! I missed you so much!"
"Hey Peaches! I missed you too!"Peaches was a name given to Odessa's because of her love to peaches. In fact, her Oma gave her her very first peach at the age of four. Odessa is now 13 and is still in love with peaches.
Odessa and Oma hugged tightly for 1 minute. That's a long time for a normal hug.
"Hey mom! How ya doing!?" Asked Dessa's mom.
"Hey sweetie! I'm doing fine! How about yourself?"This was a normal conversation to have after you pick someone up at the airport. But something stood out to Odessa when she was silently eavesdropping.
"How are you doing without Jacob?"
Asked Dessa's grandma.Jacob was Odessa's dad who has sadly gotten hit by a car and passed away. Odessa still thinks about him every night when she goes to bed. Sometimes, when she can't sleep, Dessa just thinks about all the good things her and her dad when he was still alive.
"Oh... It's going... That's for sure..."
Calmly said Carol (Odessa's mom) after thinking about it for a little."We are a little short on the house payment-"
"Let's talk about this another time ok?" Oma said nudging Carol and smiling at Odessa."Guess what Oma?!"
"Chicken butt!"
"Nooo! I got an A on that report you helped me on when you were last here."
"Oh that's great! What was that again?"As you can probably guess, Oma is getting kinda old. She is having some memory loss but not enough to stop her from anything.
"The one about the flowers and colors!"
"Oh yes! Didn't you do that one because of Nana?"Nana was Dessa's great grandma. She loved flowers best of all. She told stories of when we was a kid, she used to go outside and pick only the lovelest flowers for a young boy named Charlie who worked at the nearby Bakery. He was still her age at the time though. But once she gave him the flowers... They always ended up in the trash. As you can tell... Charlie didn't really have feelings for her anyway.
That story always made Odessa cringe because she would just imagine going up to a boy and giving him flowers. Yuck!"Yep! That's right!"
The ride back was very boring for Odessa cause all they grown ups were doing was talking about what the family is up to. Everyone except Odessa and her mom live in Florida so Oma has to keep them updated.
Finally, they were home.
