~ Yasmin King ~

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.

My mother's favorite quote from Maya Angelou, that I never understood until I was the bearer of my own secrets.

To come off to the world as an innocent, sweet young lady when I really was the opposite was... interesting to say the least.

My warm exterior was just a facade that everyone, especially men fell for.

The sound of the door's bell when someone came in rung and I peeked my head up from my phone and was surprised to see a quite famous face, but I showed no emotion.

He spoke back and forth to Gina who sat at the front desk and I watched as his daughter walked around in a circle before tugging on his pants leg.

"Yasmin," Nina called out, looking to me since I was the only one available at the moment.

"Yes ma'am," I said with a grin.

"Baby girl here would like a kiddie mani- pedi"

I got up and walked over to the kid's pedicure chair and mixed in some solution with warm water and she happily skipped up to me.

"Hi sweetie, what's your name?"

"Royalty." she smiled.

"That's a pretty name for a pretty girl. What color would princess Royalty like today?"

"Mmm... blue... no purple... no blue."

"Tell you what, I got a color with both in one."

"Really?" she lit up with excitement and I heard a deep chuckle.

I peered up at a smiling Chris, but quickly turned my attention to her.

"Yup, let's get started."

Next to the kid's chair was a regular chair for parents with them and they both took their seats before I took mine.

Royalty didn't take long to break out her shell and was quite the talker, but as I finished her nails, I felt eyes staring at me.

"Yes?" I asked, starting her toes.

"Nothing. You just look familiar." he shrugged.

"Doubt it." I mumbled.

I rarely ever went out, I was always at work or home.

"You have a brother..." he wagged his finger at me. "Ant... well Antonio."

"Yeah, y'all are friends?"

"Yeah, we been friends for a few years."

"I'll let him know I seen you." I told him.

"Oh I'll do it. Need to ask him why we never met."

"Probably cause we don't have nothin to talk about."

"I can name a few things."

"My man could too."

"Oop," Royalty mumbled.

"Touché," he chuckled.

My brother was a dog. And if Chris was anything like him, I damn sure wasn't going for it. I play games back.

"All done," I smiled at Royalty. "Let's get to the dryer."

I put her kiddie flip flops on for her and helped her down and walked her to the dryer and was caught off guard when she hugged my legs.

"Thank you." she smiled brightly before sitting down.

"Any time sweetie."

I looked to my right to see a chest and looked up to see Chris looking down at me.

He held a hundred between his pointer and index finger out at me and I looked at his eyes through his shades.

"It was only twenty."

"Sorry. I only got hundreds on me." he shrugged.

"Thanks." I said dryly, taking it and walking off.

"Ay," he said and I looked back.

"I'll see you later, Yasmin."

I gave him a small smile and nodded.

"Getcho lil friend." I said on the phone with Antonio.

"Who?" Ant laughed.

"Chris."

"Chris is married, he ain't thinking bout you."

"Brown."

"How'd you see him?"

"He came to the salon today with his daughter. Being a lil flirty but I told him I have a boyfriend."

"No you don't. That lame ass nigga don't got shit."

"Ant," I sighed, not understanding why he disliked Tarell so much, they used to be friends.

"I don't fuck with him. Never will again, he ain't gone do nothin but dog you."

"And Chris would do anything different?" I laughed lightly, getting out the car.

"Whatever. I'll talk to you face to face."

"Not about this."

I hung up and knocked on the door to Tarell's apartment and his roommate, John, answered the door.

"Hey," I mumbled walking past him and straight to Rell's room.

"My favorite girl."

"Better be your only girl." I scolded, closing the door behind me.

"Of course." he smiled, pulling me into a hug.
