The person I wanted to avoid at the moment was right in front of me, and he didn't look happy.
Surrounding him was a bunch of girls from both the senior year and ours -- eager but brave girls who can’t wait to hear his voice or have his attention. There were 6 or 7 girls crowding around him, bombarding him with questions that generally come off as being personal for him to look uncomfortable. He didn’t look like he wanted to answer them, but does nothing to push the girls away probably in fear of hurting them.
“Jungkook’s in trouble, aren’t you going to help?” Jasmine said, frowning at the sight. “And gosh this is getting ridiculous.”
I nodded. When he arrived yesterday, the girls in our class were making quite a fuss over him, speaking in hushed tones throughout the lesson.
Even the girls sitting in front kept looking over their shoulder, as if they were deprived of something he has.I do get he IS handsome, but the girls are being too much. I’m okay if jungkook wanted that attention, but the fact is that he doesn’t. So there’s our problem.
“Any ideas other than pushing me there?” I replied bluntly, narrowing my eyes at her.
Being jasmine’s friend, you have to get ready for crazy stuff. You definitely need quick reflexes to deal with that stuff she will throw at you.
Now, I expected her to smirk, but she didn’t seem to respond to me or heard me at all. She was zeroing her eyes at some of the girls who started touching his arm.
From right beside her, I already sensed her anger going up the rage quit meter. Jasmine particularly hates it when people don’t respect personal space and take advantage of people’s kindness.
“That’s it,” Jasmine spit the words out.
With the sudden outburst, she stormed towards the crowd, pushing her way through to Jungkook.
“F**k off and give him room!” she yelled.
They glared at her, not moving an inch. They just ignored her and continued bothering her. And with the noise they are making, it’s really hard to hear her.
Damn. I’m getting pissed because the girls don’t care about other people’s feelings and that they don’t know when to stop.
If they can’t hear me yelling, what else can I do to help?
The whistle!!
My mother gave me one years ago, after encountering my gangster-like classmate while walking me home from school. She was scared of letting me walk alone so she gave me a whistle and an alarm to use when I am in trouble.
I guess this is called trouble.
Taking a deep breath (sorry jasmine), I blew with all my might.
Some of the girls turned their heads to me sharply, while others instinctively covered their ears.
Serves them right.
Jasmine also got momentarily stunned, so I had to come up to her and push her forward.
“Let’s go,” I told Jungkook, reaching out for his hand so that I can bring him out of this mess.
Jungkook nodded. His expression was softer than the stiff reaction he showed around the girls earlier, clearly relieved that it was over.
I wondered why I didn’t let his hand go that day but after some time, he was the one leading me the classroom due to his long strides. Throughout the journey there, my mind was elsewhere. I thought about how the feeling of holding a guy’s hand was so different -- his hand was bigger than mine, firm and strong. He didn’t put too much pressure on mine and his strides were confident and easy to follow.
