"Yo finally!"

I exclaimed as we heard the buzzer that opened our cell door. That was our indication that lockdown was finally over. Two ol' dumbasses tried to escape rikers which sent us into an automatic forty-eight hour lockdown.

I followed behind Jaws as inmates flooded into the general area, happy to be out of their cell as well as I.

"Yo Luh I told you we were gonna be out just in time to see your babymoms!"

Another inmate that I was familiar with that I had years of history with, Diesel. I knew from way back when I was slanging as a little d-boy and he'd got out the game but ended up in here on some check fraud shit.

"Yo thank god bro, I ain't seen them in two weeks I miss them like a mug."

I laughed as we were play fighting.

"I bet, my momma bringing my son and he just turned three."

Diesel just started his sentence here last week, after finishing his trial in Chicago.

"Damn you gotta son?"

It's been a minute.

"Yeah bro I had him with Keisha, man I'm glad to be back in NY I missed them. That on the run shit ain't no joke."

We conversed back and forth catching up a bit and fooling around. Once it was time for Rec I joined Jaws for our regular one on one match.

"I see you done found somebody you knew up in here."

Jaws spoke as I checked the ball.

"Yeah ol dude I used to slang with, he got out the game earlier then me but ended up in here for some check fraud."

I tried my best to maneuver the ball around him but as usual it was tough.

"He seem grimy, don't be fucking with him like that, he the type to try and set you up for more years and you need to get home to your girl and your daughter."

I knew what was up with Diesel.

"Trust me I don't have no plans on getting chummy with him I already learned my lesson."

Jaws really a major reason I'm keeping my nose clean; a huge mentor and I lord knows I'm grateful to God about him.

"So how's your sister?"

I tried not to let my nervous get the best of me as I played.

"I haven't heard from her since before Nala called for her address. I'm tryna figure out if I should be worried or not."

I shot the ball and it went in. Jaws grabbed it and it was now him on offense.

"Don't be worried she probably cool, just busy."

I for sure hope so.

"Ayo Luh ain't ya supposed baby momma coming today?"

I didn't even have to turn around to know who it was and I wasn't in the mood for the shenanigans today.

"Derek don't even pay him no mind."

Jaws tried to calm me.

"I mean with that dark ass baby, I can't believe he even believe that's his! Ha!"

Aaron some dude that had some imaginary beef with me for whatever reason.

"You know he think he black, it probably make sense to him!"

I felt my blood pressure raising. As they laughed like hyenas, I dropped the ball and walked over to him Jaws closely behind me.

"What is with your bitch tendencies? Why you so bitter? Do you need some dick? Is it because ya momma don't love you or something? Why are you even checking for somebody else's baby, didn't yours die?"
