My Rainbow After Every Pain

"Callister! Come on now sumunod ka na sa amin! Don't be kj!" Tawag sa akin ni Heather. Hindi sana ako sumama dito sa Bohol kung wala si Heather. I wanna be with her till the end.

Hi everyone ako nga pala si Callister Drake del Cado. Isang rebel playboy na na-inlove kay Heather Ravina Maceren. Alam ko cliché ang story namin para sa inyo. A typical playboy-falling-hard-for-a-girl story. Pero ibahin niyo kami.

It's been 5 years nung sinagot ako ni Heather after a year and a half of courting her. College kasi kami that time. Busy sa school kasi graduating na kami. And I never had regrets for falling for her. People may think I talk gay today but I don't care. At sa loob ng 5 years na pagsasama namin I learned more and more about her.

And I learned a horrible thing about her just a few weeks ago. Nalaman lang ng pamilya niya na may sakit pala siya, and only some people are known to survive this sickness. And from that day we took care of her as much as we took care of her before.

"Cal ang bagal mo talagang maglakad halika na!" She said in a whining tone. And it makes her more irresistible. "Heather" I called her, making her turn to me. As soon as she turned I kiss her directly on her lips. "I love you so much Darling." I told her after kissing her. "Mahal din kita Cal, thank you sa lahat. Thank you for staying with me until now." Sagot niya sa akin. "Come on let's not be too gloomy. You should enjoy this!" I said pointing to this wonderful beach. "Now come on. Baka tayong dalawa na ang magiging kj dito." Tumawa naman siya dahil sa sinabi ko. Natawa din ako. Her laugh is very contagious.

"Cal! Heather! Hali na kayo! Sumali ka na sa amin. Volleyball is fun. Boys vs girls tayo. Come on" tawag sa amin ni Cannopy. Masaya kaming naglaro the whole afternoon.

The next day ay naglilibot lang kami sa Bohol. Pumunta kami sa old churches, yung chocolate hills. Pumunta din kami sa Hanging bridge.

"Darling come on you can do it." Heather is afraid of heights kahit hindi naman sobrang taas dito sa bridge. "Kayo nalang! Dun nalang ako sa van magstay. Mag skype nalang kami ni mommy hehehe bye!" Sabay talikod sa akin. Kinuha ko agad yung kamay niya at dinala siya sa bridge. "Ayaw ko nga Darling! Iiyak na ako huhuhuhu"

"Halika na just cross over it then babalik na tayo." Sabi ko sakanya. Pero dahil may pagkasiraulo yung kapatid niya. Nag jujump siya sa bridge kaya nagswasway yung bridge making Heather panic more. At dahil natakot na siya tumakbo siya papunta sa van. Sumunod nalang ako. Nasa other side pa kasi yung ibang kaibigan namin. Natatawa parin ako sa reaction ni Heather. She never fails to amuse me.

"Ang bad niyo sa akin darling!" Sigaw niya sabay hampas sa braso ko ng ilang beses.
"Tigilan mo nga yan ang tsansing mo hahahaha." Pinahid ko na ang luha niya at niyakap siya. "We'll wait for them here nalang ok?" She only nodded her head and rested her head on my shoulders. And after a few minutes she fell asleep.

Ilang days din kami nandito sa bohol. Sinulit na namin ang vacation namin. Nang pauwi na kami bumili muna kami ng souvenirs at gifts para sa pamilya namin at dumiretso na kami sa airport.

Ilang araw din pagkatapos naming makauwi sa manila napansin namin na mas nagiging weak si Heather. At ayaw niya ding uminom ng mga gamot, o kaya pumunta man lang sa ospital. After a few days she asked me a favor.
"Darling pwede ba tayong pumunta sa old school natin?" Tanong niya. "Sige na, ngayon lang to." Dagdag niya pa. "Heather you need to stay at home.  We don't know what will happen to you." I replied to her. But she just gave me a puppy face.

"Okay okay I surrender. Magpaalam muna tayo kay mommy," I told her. "Wala dito sila mommy. I'll text her nalang tara," she responded. Agad kaming nagbihis at pumunta na sa university namin noon. We just went around the place. Walking slowly while remembering the old times.

"Tingnan mo yun oh!" Sabi niya sabay turo sa old bench sa ilalim ng puno. "Diyan ako palaging tumatambay basta may school work ako. And that's where you always disturb me." She said while chuckling. I can't help but chuckle too. Ang dami naming memories dito sa university na toh. "I'll never forget this place." She said then turned to me. "I'll always remember this place forever." She added.

"I want to go to the nearby beach," she said. Instead of going against her I just agreed. I just helped her walk to my car para hindi na siya mapagod maglakad papunta sa beach. Di naman yun sobrang layo. Pero baka mapagod lang siya. She's weak already.

When we arrived the beach the sun was setting so we went near the sea side to watch the sun set. Nung papunta na kami she told me to call our closest friends and family. She didn't tell me why but I still did it for her.

Upon their arrival I noticed some were teary-eyed. But still giving her a sweet smile. Then she went to them. I told her that I'll help her get closer to them but she told me to let her be. Since, it's the last time she'll asked for this. She said.

"Mom, dad thank you. Thank you for making me feel loved. Thank you for everything. I love you both. Kuya? Thank you for being with me since we were young. You've been like my guardian angel all the time. I want to thank you all for everything." She said to her family. Alam kong nanghihina na siya. Pero kahit nanghihina na siya she still went to our friends who are already crying so much.

"Guys mamimiss ko kayo. Bff's forever ha?" Biro niya kahit nanghihina na siya at umiiyak na din. Yumakap na silang lahat sa kanya.

"Alam niyo naman na I treat you guys as family diba? I love you forever guys." Sabi niya sa kaibigan namin. "Chris umamin ka na kay crush baka maunahan ka pa hahaha" biro niya sa kapatid ko na lalaki na kaibigan niya din. "Venny! Best, ss sa inyo ni Lucas ha? Alam ko naman na love mo siya since highschool pa tayo." Dagdag niya pa.

"Lucas wag mong saktan ulit si Venny ha? Mumultuhin talaga kita hahaha... *cough* *cough*" biro niya kay Lucas. Umuubo na siya. Kahit biro lang yun umiiyak lalo sina Venny at Lucas.

"Karen wag kanang malungkot ha? Malapit ka ng hindi maging single. Ayiieee magsmile na yan," biro niya naman kay Karen "Mahal ko kayong lahat dagdag niya habang tinitingnan silang lahat. "Darling?" Tumingin siya sa'kin. "C-can you help me s-sit?" Tanong niya sa akin. Alam kong naghihina na siya ng sobra ngayon. I made her sit on the big rock malapit sa amin.

She looked at me and patted her side. Umupo na din ako sa tabi niya. She layed her head on my shoulder. "Darling k-kahit anong m-mangyari stay strong okay? I won't be happy if you'll be s-slacking in your work. Just d-do this for the both of us okay? I'll forever be by your side not physically but I'll be with you." She told me while trying to say all of those properly.

"What if I can't do it?" I told her while trying not to cry, kahit gustong gusto ko. But my tears betrayed me kaya hinayaan ko na. Heather hugged me tight then faced me. "I know you c-can. You're strong. You are the campus rebel remember?" She added. She placed her head on my shoulder again. We just watched the waves and the other people near the beach.

" I love you Callister." After a couple of minutes her hands that were around me loosened. And that made me cry hard. Even if people say men who cries are gay, I never believed in that. Men who cried tells the opposite of being gay. Cause for me men who cries are strong. For they handled the pain long enough. Too make them cry.

I can hear people crying around me. I know they are also in pain lalo na ang magulang at kapatid niya. People come and go but they will never leave your heart without a mark. Heather was always my medicine in everything. She was my rainbow after all the pain and that will never change.

"I love you too Heather. Always and forever."
