Parsleykit sat alone in the nursery. Frosty-eyes had a bad hip injury, and had to move to the elders' den permadantly. She was awaiting who was going to be caring for her now. She looked at her paws and shuffled them around, breathing in the cool leaf-bare air. A small, lithe blue she-cat padded into the den, "Hello youn' kit! My big sis will be your new foster momma," She meowed. Her weird accent flowed into the den, and Parsleykit frowned. "Isn't your littermate, Jadesnout, really.. Mean?"

A large gray she-cat entering the den with claws unseathed answered her question.

"Stupid kit! I cannot believe I was sent to take care of such a stupid kit. I'm surprised they didn't let it freeze to death!" She laughed, an echoing, menacing laugh. Parsleykit flattened to the ground, scared of this cat. Stripedclaw, her father, came into the den and dropped a skinny, pathetic mouse into the den in front of his kit. Parsleykit purred and rubbed against him, but he lowered his head. "I have to go, Nightstar doesn't want me spending too much time with you.. I'm sorry." He padded out of the den with his head and tail drooping.

Jadesnout snatched up the mouse as her sister padded away. "Hey, that's for me!" Parsleykit cried out, her small kitten paws trembling. Jadesnout swished her tail and knocked the kit over, settling down to eat. Her long gray fur trembled in the wind. Parsleykit was thrown against the wall by Jadesnout's huge tail, and she trembled, mewling weakly.

Gaining up her strength, she sat up and rubbed her head with her small paw, letting out a long sigh.

Suddendly, Parsleykit heard a loud yowl. Confused, she padded to the front of the den, and saw Nightstar, his long white fur with black, huge paws and ears, a huge nipped ear.. He was terrifying to a young kit. Nightstar was on top of another brown apprentice. "How dare you disrespect me?!" The huge tom yowled.

Parsleykit flattened her ears, terrified. Why was he hurting another cat?

The brown apprentice wriggled beneath him. "N--Nightstar! I'm s--sorry, ok--kay? I just didn't think that--" He was cut off by Nightstar's snapping jaws on his throat.

"Your opinion does not matter."
